Liverpool ‘serious’ on Wirtz

Liverpool are in strong contention to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in a potential club-record deal, according to Sport Bild.

Wirtz has been linked with a string of major clubs ahead of the transfer window, with Bayern Munich thought to be leading the way.

According to reports from Germany, Liverpool are “serious” in their bid to sign the 22-year-old.

Michael Edwards is set to fly to Boston this week to hold talks with Fenway Sports Group to get a bid for the playmaker approved by the club owners.

Wirtz has already travelled to England to speak to Premier League clubs interested in signing him but has a massive €150 million price put on his head.

Liverpool’s most expensive transfer is the signing for Darwin Nunez from Benfica for €85m.

€190m triple Saudi move on the cards

Liverpool’s move for Wirtz could be funded by a trio of sales, with clubs from the Saudi Pro League eyeing up three peripheral members of Arne Slot’s squad.

According to Sky Germany, the Reds have already received enquiries from the big-spending league for Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.

This trio have a total Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of around €190m yet the Anfield club will know that Saudi may even go higher to sign this trio of Premier League champions given their deep pockets.

Reds legends Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane already play in the Saudi Pro League, but Mo Salah turned down a lucrative offer to sign a new contract at Liverpool.

Luis Diaz is Barcelona’s ‘priority’

Luis Diaz has several possibilities in the transfer market this summer, with the Colombia winger having been targeted by Barcelona.

Indeed, Diaz is seen as the “favourite” of Barca sporting director Deco ahead of the summer transfer window and is the “priority” signing of the Catalan club.

It’s doubtful that the Blaugrana will be able to raise the €71m that matches the winger’s ETV and they have put Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford on standby as a Plan B.
