Liam Delap: Chelsea 'confident' of finalising transfer despite Man Utd AGREEMENT

Chelsea are reportedly “confident” of beating Manchester United to the signing of Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap this summer.
The England U21 international has emerged as a key transfer target for a plethora of Premier League clubs following a standout debut campaign at Portman Road, and he is available for a fee of just €35 million due to a relegation release clause included in his Ipswich contract.
Chelsea and Man Utd are currently battling to win the race for Delap’s signature during the upcoming summer transfer window, with both clubs eager to sign the 22-year-old amid their pursuit of a new striker.
ESPN recently claimed that Man Utd have reached an agreement on personal terms with Delap, but Graeme Bailey has reported that Chelsea are still “confident” they will beat Man Utd to a summer deal following fresh talks with the Englishman.
Delap worked with Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca during his time in Manchester City’s academy set-up, and the Blues believe he is capable of becoming their first-choice number nine next campaign.
In addition to Delap, Chelsea are also reportedly interested in the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Hugo Ekitike and Viktor Gyokeres as they pursue a striker capable of challenging Nicolas Jackson for a starting berth at Stamford Bridge.

Kieran McKenna drops major Liam Delap hint
Although Delap is yet to confirm that he will leave Ipswich this summer, reports indicate that a departure is virtually guaranteed and Kieran McKenna admitted just as much ahead of his side’s final Premier League match of the season on Sunday.
“Liam's looking at his options for next year, which I think he's entitled to do, and we support him with that. So, yes, we've given him the permission to do that this week,” the Ipswich boss told reporters.
“It's a very important decision for his future. Of course, there's a lot of interest and rightly so. So that's been part of his week, he's been having some of those conversations.
“It looks, I think more likely than not, that he'll move on this summer. He has interest from pretty much every club in the league. I don't think there's many clubs in the world who wouldn't want to have him. So I think it's more likely than not that he'll move on.”
