Dream Chelsea transfer at risk of COLLAPSE

Marseille are starting to have major doubts about the feasibility of signing boyhood fan Wesley Fofana, according to a report.
The Chelsea defender has never made a secret of his desire to suit up for his hometown club, even admitting that he was tempted when sporting director Mehdi Benatia called him last summer.
At the time, Fofana decided to stay at Chelsea and enter a new era under Enzo Maresca. Initially, things were working out well for both. Fofana, finally fit after two injury-disrupted seasons, was playing well and starting regularly, with Maresca revealing that he is 'in love' with the Frenchman.
However, the season eventually became a repeat of previous years. Chelsea's form began to dip, and Fofana was once again sidelined long term, this time with a hamstring injury that ultimately required surgery.
Chelsea are reportedly fed up with Fofana's lack of availability and are willing to entertain offers for the 24-year-old this summer, which has naturally attracted the attention of Marseille again.
Marseille having doubts about Fofana
The Ligue 1 giants have managed to avert a 'disaster' (Benatia's phrasing) in what has been a crazy season by qualifying for the Champions League, thus earning much-needed revenue.
However, despite this influx of cash, Marseille are now having doubts about the feasibility of signing Fofana, according to Sacha Tavolieri. The player's hefty salary is reportedly giving them headaches.

Moreover, his persistent fitness issues are a huge concern. Not mentioned is that Fofana still has a long-term contract at Chelsea - until 2029 - so his transfer fee surely wouldn't be cheap either considering that the Blues spent a whopping €80 million on him.
Marseille are therefore denying that there has been any significant development in their interest in the local boy. They remain keen, but a move appears difficult to pull off as things stand.
