Xavi Simons will leave RB Leipzig in the summer, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed in a transfer bomb that will interest numerous Premier League clubs.

Simons only signed for the Bundesliga giants in January as PSG elected to move the Netherlands international on due to administrative reasons.

Even at that point it was made clear that his stay in Leipzig might not be a long one, with interest from the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal cited.

Now Romano has confirmed that Simons wants to move on in news that will doubtless interest the Premier League giants.

Reporting on X, Romano said: “Xavi Simons’ decision has been made: he’s ready to leave RB Leipzig this summer.

“Plan confirmed as reported in recent months, he’s ready for a new chapter with top Premier League clubs and Bayern all attentive to his situation.

“RB Leipzig are aware of the player’s plan.”

Simons transfer hint

Simons had previously hinted at his desire to leave Leipzig in the summer in an interview with Sky Sport Deutschland.

“I’m still a young player, I have many dreams - and the club knows that,” he said.

“But right now, the most important thing for me is to play well in the upcoming games. Then we have the international matches, and after that we’ll sit down and see what happens.”

FootballTransfers understands that Man Utd are among leading contenders to sign Simons, with Duncan Castles revealing back in April: “Manchester United are also very interested in Simons. Their problem is an obvious one in that they don't have much money to play with, certainly not the kind of money that Leipzig are looking at as a sell fee.

They will need to win the Europa League and to qualify for the Champions League to be able to afford such a deal. But he's on a list of players that they're looking at.

“They will need to win the Europa League and to qualify for the Champions League to be able to afford such a deal. But he's on a list of players that they're looking at.

“I'm also told that Liverpool have asked questions about the player. And again, you look at the style of his play and you could see why he would be a fit to the way Liverpool plays.

“I think everything is set up for a sale this summer if Leipzig can convince one of those clubs to come in and spend the money that they want for him.”

RB Leipzig are likely to demand a fee of €80 million for any club seeking to sign Simons, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €75m.
