Fabrizio Romano has guaranteed that Arsenal will sign at least one striker and one winger this summer.

The Gunners are in for a transformative transfer window under new sporting director Andrea Berta. Mikel Arteta's five-year plan of rebuilding Arsenal has concluded, and both the manager and director are desperate to take the club to the next level.

No Arsenal player has hit double-digit goals in the Premier League this season

After constantly falling short in recent seasons, Arsenal want to finally get over the hump next term and win a major trophy. To that end, they will spend massively in the upcoming transfer window.

The Gunners' mistake of not signing a No.9 last summer has been laid bare in recent months as they failed to mount a proper title challenge in the Premier League. A clinical finisher could also have helped them overcome PSG and Gianluigi Donnarumma in the Champions League.

Viktor Gyokeres has emerged as Berta's preferred option, although interest in Benjamin Sesko remains, while Alexander Isak is Arteta's seemingly unattainable dream target.

Arsenal to sign new striker and winger

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal will definitely dip into the market for a new centre-forward, while they will also look to add a new winger - potentially Nico Williams - to provide competition and depth for the established wide players.

“For sure, they will back Mikel Arteta this summer," Romano said on his Here We Go podcast. "A new number nine will arrive. A new winger will arrive."

This won't be the end of Arsenal's business, however, with the Gunners also looking to bolster other positions. “In the midfield, I expect movement because Jorginho is going to Flamengo, and they’re negotiating a new deal with Thomas Partey.

“For the centre-back position at the moment on [William] Saliba, Arsenal insist that they want to take their time to negotiate with the player, to offer a new contract.

"Real Madrid are waiting to see what happens there, but at the moment, there are no club-to-club negotiations or conversations. So it’s not even early stages, there is interest, but there’s nothing else at the moment because the ball is still in Arsenal’s court on the Saliba case.

“On Dean Huijsen, Arsenal are still trying but there is also Liverpool and Chelsea. Liverpool and Chelsea are pushing a lot, Arsenal are still there, so Huijsen will be a big case with these three clubs involved in the next weeks. I think this month the decision will be made.”
