At last, good news for Man Utd fans - Mason Mount is heading to Old Trafford as the club's first major signing of the summer.

The race to sign Mount had until today (Thursday) summed up a miserable few weeks for Erik ten Hag - lots of hope and speculation but ultimately no deals. Not any more.

Shortly before 5pm UK time Fabrizio Romano announced that United and Chelsea have agreed a £60m fee for Mount to continue his career with the Red Devils from next season.

Mount had already agreed personal terms with Man Utd and re-iterated that if he could not join them this summer, he would run down his contract and leave Stamford Bridge as a free agent in the summer of 2024.

Sheikh Jassim confident of winning race as takeover 'imminent'

Man Utd's summer transfer window has so far been ruined by the takeover battle raging for control of the club, but that could be about to change.

According to Bloomberg, Sheikh Jassim is said to be 'increasingly confident' that he will come out on top in the battle with British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe to acquire the Premier League giants.

The takeover saga has been raging for months, and the end result is Erik ten Hag being unable to make the marquee summer signings he craves to improve a squad that finished third in the table last season.

Reports on Thursday suggest a final decision from the Glazers could be 'imminent' - music to the ears of those long-suffering Man Utd fans.

Ten Hag WON'T SELL Mason Greenwood as loan exit likely

The future of Man Utd striker Mason Greenwood is becoming clearer by the day as he prepares for what he hopes will be a return to top-level football.

The 21-year-old has not figured for United since January 2022, and it is unlikely his return to action will be in a red shirt. At least, not for now.

The Manchester Evening News claims club officials want to make a decision on Greenwood's future before the new season, and that Erik ten Hag does not want to sell the player. Instead it appears for now that a loan exit for Greenwood is more likely.

Greenwood of course was charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault, leading to his long absence. Those charges were dropped in February 2023, but the player has not returned to the club's training ground in the five months since.

Man Utd set to bid for Caicedo

With the Mason Mount saga no nearer to being resolved, Man Utd are expected to make a formal approach to Brighton for their midfielder Moises Caicedo this week.

The Ecuadorian has been mooted as the perfect alternative to Mount, for whom United have had three bids rejected by Chelsea. They say they will not go higher than their latest £55m bid with Mount set to be out of contract next summer.

Caicedo, himself a Chelsea target, has spoken in the past of the ‘dream’ of moving to Old Trafford, and the lure of joining one of the world’s biggest clubs could be a powerful one.

Brighton are likely to demand at least £80m for their star asset, which begs the question can United even afford him? Watch this space, we should find out very soon with Sky Sports reporting that an official approach will happen this week.

Osimhen’s message as transfer rumour mill goes into OVERDRIVE

Reported Man Utd target Victor Osimhen’s future could become a whole lot clearer this week, but the Nigerian striker is not stressing about it.

Per reports from Italy, Osimhen’s camp are set to meet with interested clubs, including the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and PSG.

The 24-year-old striker, who scored 26 goals in 32 Serie A games to fire Napoli to the Scudetto in 2022-23, is available this summer but his club want a massive €150m fee.

As for the player himself, he is staying calm in the eye of the storm, posting a social media message which appeared to provide a response to all of those rumours.

PARTY TIME as Man Utd set to seal Onana deal in IBIZA

Man Utd are set to complete the signing of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana at a summit in Ibiza of all places later this week.

Erik ten Hag is set to be reunited with his former Ajax shot stopper Onana as he looks to replace David de Gea. The Spaniard is out of contract on Friday, ending a 12-year stay in Manchester.

According to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter and United officials are already on the party island and have met in a ‘serene’ atmosphere with both clubs confident of completing the transfer. This could happen by Friday.

Man Utd director of football David Harrison - at ten Hag’s insistence - wants Onana signed, sealed and delivered in time for pre-season training at the start of July.

Gazzetta also says Inter are hoping to get their full £50m asking price for Onana, to allow them to use the cash to fund their bid to acquire striker Romelu Lukaku on a permanent transfer from Chelsea.

Onana is set to rejoin ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Kim Min-jae defeat almost official as Bayern agree deal

Defeat for Man Utd in the race to sign South Korean defender Kim Min-jae from Napoli is all but official now.

German giants Bayern Munich have swooped to grab 'The Monster' from under Erik ten Hag's nose, and he is headed for Bavaria.

Bayern have agreed a five-year deal with the defender and now only need to activate his release clause to complete the transfer on July 1. This according to Fabrizio Romano.

Ajax set Kudus price as Man Utd ponder striker bid

Erik ten Hag is clearly an admirer of his former Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus, and he now knows exactly how much it would cost to bring him to Man Utd.

The Ghanaian scored 11 goals in 29 Eredivisie games for the Amsterdam giants last season, and he is expected to leave the Dutch capital this summer.

Ajax are asking for a fee of £40m to prise Kudus away, and right now United are facing a pretty embarrassing defeat in the race for his signature.

That comes with the news - according to The Mail that Brighton are currently in talks with Ajax about the 22-year-old.

These are the grimmest of times at Old Trafford with club’s takeover saga (Sheikh Jassim vs Sir Jim Ratcliffe) threatening to derail their entire summer window.

De Gea YAWNS as clock ticks down on Man Utd career

As already stated, David de Gea will no longer be a Man Utd player on Friday and it appears the Spaniard is done with the on-off saga surrounding his contractual status.

At one stage it appeared he would be staying at Old Trafford on terms vastly reduced from his current £375,000 weekly wage packet. But not any more.

Now it seems de Gea will be out of the club at the end of this week, likely to be replaced by the aforementioned Onana. What a mess…

Striker deal SIGNED as starlet Mejia commits future to Man Utd

Colombian striker Mateo Mejia has signed a new contract commit his future to Man Utd.

The 20-year-old moved to Old Trafford in 2019 from Real Zaragoza, gained significant experience at Premier League 2 level last season.

Mejia’s progress saw him make his Under-20 debut for Colombia last December.
