Fabrizio Romano has explained that Man Utd could enter the race to sign Jude Bellingham this summer but a lot will depend on how the sale of the club progresses.

It was revealed on Tuesday that Liverpool had pulled out of the race to sign Bellingham, with the Reds having previously been favourites to buy the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.

This has opened up the possibility that Man Utd could enter the bidding war for Bellingham, who is wanted by Real Madrid and also being monitored by the likes of Man City and Chelsea.

And Romano believes that a Man Utd transfer is possible if the sale of the club is finalised swiftly and the new owners are prepared to spend heavily.

What did Romano say about Bellingham to Man Utd?

"We know that Erik ten Hag is a big fan of Jude Bellingham and has been for a long time," Romano said.

"But a lot will depend on who will be Man Utd's owner this summer, how much Man Utd can spend and also, let's remember that Man Utd's priority target for the summer is a striker.

"So we will have to see what Man Utd's strategy is to understand if they enter the race for Jude Bellingham. The timing of Man Utd's sale could be crucial."

Which clubs want to sign Jude Bellingham?

Liverpool were considered the favourites until they pulled out of the race on Tuesday.

Real Madrid have made Bellingham their number one midfield target for the summer and are the new favourites to sign him.

Chelsea and Man City are also interested, while Man Utd cannot be ruled out as Romano explained.

Dortmund are expected to sell their star man this summer, having decided against losing him in 2022 during the same window that they lost Erling Haaland to Man City for €60m.

It is expected that Bellingham will cost over €100m for whichever club does sign him, with some reports quoting his asking price as high as €150m.

His contract expires in 2024, making a summer transfer likely unless he signs a new contract.Real Madrid
