Manchester United will complete their first sale of the 2022 summer transfer window with Fulham set to buy Andreas Pereira on a deal worth £10 million (€11.5m).

Pereira, who is a versatile central midfielder, will sign a contract until 2025 with the Cottagers, with a further one-year option to the agreement, Nicolo Schira reports.

FootballTransfers values Pereira at €4m, although his peak valuation in January 2021, when he was at Lazio on loan, did hit the €11.5m mark that Fulham are set to pay for him.

The news comes amid speculation that Cristiano Ronaldo is seeking to force himself out of Old Trafford, which has eclipsed the other transfer lines emerging from Man Utd as manager Erik ten Hag seeks to rejuvenate a squad that managed to finish only sixth in the Premier League last season.

The Dutchman has already allowed Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Lee Grant to leave on free transfers, while Dean Henderson has been loaned to Nottingham Forest.

So far, Tyrell Malacia is the only player to have been signed by Man Utd this summer.

Why Pereira is moving on

Pereira came through the academy at Man Utd but has struggled to establish a presence in the first-team squad at the age of 26. Although he is a Brazil international – once capped – he has featured on only 75 occasions for the Red Devils and has typically spent time away from the club on loan. Valencia, Lazio and Granada are all teams who have had his services for a season.

His latest loan move was last term, where he went back to Brazil to play for Flamengo. He turned out 53 times over the duration of a move that lasted from August 2021 until June, notably scoring eight goals in total.

The prospects of Pereira breaking into the squad at Man Utd, however, appeared slim and he will move to newly promoted Fulham, where he will seek regular first-team football as the newly promoted side try to re-establish themselves as a Premier League club.
