Chelsea have offered Juventus €100 million in order to sign Federico Chiesa, according to Bild.

Chiesa was one of the stars of Italy’s victorious Euro 2020 campaign, playing a key role for the Azzurri in the knockout stages.

He broke the deadlock in extra time during Italy’s 2-1 win over Austria in the last 16, while he also found the net in the semi-final success against Spain.

In the final triumph over hosts England, Chiesa was a constant thorn in the home side’s defence before being forced off injured before the end of the 90 minutes.

Chiesa’s performances at the Euros has led to a raft of interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.

In addition to Chelsea, German giants Bayern Munich have been very public in their desire to sign the 23-year-old winger.

New Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann told Bild am Sonntag last week: “I would definitely want to sign Chiesa.

“He is a super player, because he embodies incredible verve and dynamism. I’ve known him for a long time and think he’s outstanding, because he’s so carefree, he likes to dribble and goes for the finish quickly.”

Will Juventus sell Chiesa?

However, Chelsea and Bayern Munich have no chance of signing Chiesa this summer.

Chiesa only joined Juve from Fiorentina a year ago, initially on a two-year loan deal that will then become permanent in 2022.

The Bianconeri paid €10m in 2020 to Fiorentina for the loan. They will then pay a further €40m to the Viola next year plus an extra €10m potentially in bonuses.

With Chiesa still in between a loan and permanent transfer, this is not a transfer that realistically can be done this summer.

And most importantly, Chiesa is considered not for sale at any price by Juventus.

The Bianconeri endured a miserable 2020/21 season and only narrowly qualified for the Champions League on the final day after Napoli slipped up at home to Verona.

They also were eliminated from the Champions League in the last 16 by Porto.

The Bianconeri have brought back Massimiliano Allegri as coach and have identified Chiesa and fellow youngster Matthijs De Ligt as the central pillars of his new Juventus team.

Both players are considered as world-class youngsters and untouchable.

Juve have been aiming to reduce the age and salary of the squad over the past 12 months.

Over the last year they have sold or released the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Blaise Matuidi, Miralem Pjanic and Sami Khedira.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who is 36 and earns a gross salary of €60m a year, is a player who potentially could be moved on this summer if there is a suitor.

While Ronaldo represents the past, Chiesa represents the present and the future.

He enjoyed an outstanding first season with the Bianconeri, scoring 15 goals and making 11 assists in 46 games.

He repeatedly demonstrated an ability to perform in the biggest matches, as he scored against Inter, Milan, Atalanta and the winner in the Coppa Italia final, as well as all of Juve’s goals in the Champions League knockouts.

This was then carried over to Euro 2020, where he starred at Wembley in the games versus Austria, Spain and England.
