The 29-year-old's leadership qualities and his ability to serve as an exemplary role model for the younger players at Monaco have not gone unnoticed. He acted as a mentor for former players Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile, and this played a significant role in their development in France, before they both earned a move to Chelsea last year.

Rennes are currently undergoing a transition, and it's thought their squad could greatly benefit from Maripán's wealth of experience. The club needs a seasoned leader who can guide the team both on the field and in the dressing room.

One of the standout features that make Maripán an enticing prospect for Rennes is his impressive contribution in the attacking third. In the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, he showcased his versatility by netting 5 and 4 goals respectively.

Rennes see him as a linchpin for their ongoing project, with the club currently in 10th place in Ligue 1.
