Mbappe demands Real Madrid transfer clause

Kylian Mbappe has told PSG he will only sign a new contract if a clause is inserted that allows him to join Real Madrid, should they make a bid for him.

Mbappe’s future at the Parc des Princes is extremely uncertain as his contract expires at the end of next season.

PSG are desperate to tie the French superstar down to a new deal, just as they did recently with his strike-partner Neymar.

However, Mbappe appears reluctant to pen an extension unless the terms are weighed heavily in his favour.

Will Mbappe sign a new contract?

According to Marca, Mbappe has given Real Madrid two options.

The first option is that PSG agree to a new contract with a clause that will allow Mbappe to leave should a suitable transfer bid of his liking be received.

Mbappe’s desire is to join his favourite club Real Madrid.

Should this solution be rejected by the French club, then the second option is for Mbappe to simply see out the remaining year of his contract and join Madrid on a free transfer anyway.

Mbappe would prefer the first scenario so that he can leave PSG on good terms.

PSG determined to keep Mbappe

However, PSG appear unlikely to grant such a request and have shown numerous times that they won’t let their star players leave without a fight.

Both Marco Verratti and Neymar have requested to leave PSG for Barca in recent years with no luck.

Furthermore, it is forbidden under article 202 of the French Professional Football League to include release clauses in contracts.

Nevertheless, PSG face the very real risk of losing for free a player they signed for up to €180 million in 2017.

Mbappe has scored 132 goals in 171 games for PSG but would like a new challenge abroad.

The 22-year-old struggled at Euro 2020, scoring no goals and missing the decisive penalty in France’s last-16 shootout defeat to Switzerland.
