Five players who could join Real Madrid this summer

Real Madrid have enjoyed an incredible success rate in the transfer market in recent years and they will aim to complete yet more impressive business this summer.
Los Blancos have utilised the free agent market remarkably well over the last decade, while they aren’t afraid of splashing the cash on huge transfer fees either.
Real have already agreed to sign Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, while a free transfer for Trent Alexander-Arnold is awaiting official confirmation.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through five players who could join Real Madrid this summer.

Alvaro Carreras (Benfica)
Likely incoming new manager Xabi Alonso is understood to have requested Real invest in rejuvenating their backline, which has led to Benfica left-back Alvaro Carreras being pursued as a top target.
Carreras only joined Benfica permanently last summer for €6 million from Manchester United but the Portuguese side could make a huge profit after just one year, with the Spaniard having a €50m release clause in his deal.
United could also net a substantial sell-on from the deal, with Carreras keen on the switch and the two clubs already in talks over a firm fee.

Florian Wirtz (Leverkusen)
Arguably the standout player under Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, it is not surprising that Florian Wirtz is believed to be a big target for Real Madrid this summer.
However, the 22-year-old is already in talks with Bayern Munich and Liverpool, with Leverkusen likely to demand a fee close to €150m for their talismanic playmaker.
Wirtz is believed to be Real's ideal choice for the role but it is unlikely that the La Liga giants would be willing to meet Leverkusen's price tag despite their interest.
Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea)
Real Madrid were interested in signing Enzo Fernandez before his move to Chelsea in January 2023 and they have rekindled their pursuit of the Argentine amid questions over his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.
Fernandez is still expected to remain at Chelsea, but he has been heavily linked with a departure in recent weeks.
However, Real Madrid will face substantial competition from inter-city rivals Atletico Madrid, who are also eager to purchase the Chelsea superstar.
Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd)
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has reportedly been added onto Real Madrid’s transfer wishlist as they look to sign an able replacement for Luka Modric.
The Red Devils midfielder has excelled since moving to Old Trafford in 2020 and his form over the past few years has attracted the attention of Real Madrid.
Ruben Amorim is determined to keep Fernandes, however, and Man Utd are unlikely to sanction a sale unless they receive a monumental offer.

Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad)
Real Madrid have also identified Martin Zubimendi as a potential central midfield signing, although they will need to fight off significant competition from Arsenal to land him.
Mikel Arteta’s side are reportedly set to sign the Spain international this summer and Los Blancos must therefore hijack the Gunners’ deal if they want to bring Zubimendi to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 26-year-old has impressed at Real Sociedad in recent seasons and a summer transfer is expected to take place.
