Five players who could leave Real Madrid this summer

Real Madrid have assembled one of the best squads in recent history, with a forward line boasting some of the most talented players in world football.

Despite a relatively small first-team squad, several stars are expected to leave Los Blancos in search of regular game time amid significant competition for places at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Below, FootballTransfers runs through five players who could leave Real Madrid this summer.

Luka Modric

Luka Modric will leave Real Madrid this summer after not being offered fresh terms by the club, despite a desire to stay put for another season

As a result, Modric set to become a free agent in July. Serie A giants AC Milan have been in talks with the midfield maestro to bring him to the San Siro for the 2025-26 campaign.

Modric turns 40 in September, but he has no intention of retiring just yet.

Arda Guler

Arda Guler has struggled for game time since his move to Real Madrid and several clubs across Europe are keeping tabs on his situation.

The Turkish wonderkid has been unable to work his way into the starting XI and he may look for a transfer away from the club in search of more regular first-team action.

If Real Madrid opt to trigger their buy-back clause in Nico Paz’s contract at Como, then Guler is even more likely to depart.

Reinier

When Real Madrid signed Reinier for €30 million in 2020, they were hoping he would follow in the footsteps of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.

However, that simply hasn’t happened and the Brazilian is yet to make his senior debut for Los Blancos.

Following loan spells at Borussia Dortmund, Girona, Frosinone and Granada, Reinier could be sold on a permanent deal this summer.

Brahim Diaz

Brahim Diaz is unlikely to leave Real Madrid, although he may push for an exit if he wants to prioritise regular game time next season.

Since his return from a three-year loan stint at AC Milan, Diaz has played a back-up role to Real Madrid’s star-studded attack and he has been extremely effective.

As a result, Real Madrid will want to keep him, but several Premier League teams are monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Fran Garcia

Real Madrid re-signed Fran Garcia in 2023, but he has found game time fairly limited since his return, with Ferland Mendy keeping his place as Los Blancos’ favoured left-back.

Bournemouth are reportedly interested in signing the Spaniard if Milos Kerkez departs this summer, with Andoni Iraola pushing to complete a deal after working with Garcia at Rayo Vallecano.

However, former top target Alphonso Davies will not be joining Real Madrid after extending his contract at Bayern Munich, so Los Blancos are likely to keep Garcia if possible.
