Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has responded to rumours linking him to the vacant Brazil job.

The Selecao are after a new boss following the departure of Tite after the relative disappointment of World Cup 2022, in which Brazil exited at the quarter-final stages via a defeat to Croatia on penalties.

There has been a clamour in Brazil to appoint a foreign coach to the role and numerous big names have been touted to take up the vacant spot, with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola among them.

The most recent, though, is veteran Madrid boss Ancelotti, who led Los Blancos to La Liga and the Champions League last season. Indeed, UOL Esporte claimed that Ancelotti had accepted the post under the condition that he is given the rest of the year to oversee the European club champions.

The Italian, though, has moved to quickly quell such speculation, telling Radio Rai that he is committed to Real Madrid until the end of his contract.

“What the future holds for me, I don’t know, I live for the day, for now I’m very happy at Madrid, we have many goals to achieve this season, there will be time to think about my future,” he said.

“I have a contract until 30 June, 2024 and, if Real Madrid doesn’t send me away, I won’t move until then.”

Ancelotti has never coached a national team

Ancelotti has coached a string of leading clubs around Europe, including Juventus, Milan, Chelsea, PSG and Bayern Munich, but has never previously had the challenge of overseeing a national team.

He does have ample experience with several Brazil stars, though, with Eder Miltao, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior all playing successfully under his tutelage at Real Madrid.

It appears, meanwhile, that the 63-year-old is content at the Bernabeu for the time being, and with Los Blancos still in decent form, despite sitting second in La Liga, there is little suggestion they are about to get rid of him.
