Real Madrid always keep an eye on the world’s finest young talent, with a view towards bringing them over to the Spanish capital and developing them into Europe’s best footballers.

In recent years, the likes of Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo and Eduardo Camavinga have all made moves to the Santiago Bernabeu and become important figures, having won the league and Champions League last season.

They’ve also been keeping an eye on another great talent in the form of Youssoufa Moukoko, who currently plays at German giants Borussia Dortmund and is making a mark in the first-team.

The 17-year-old has been part of the Dortmund first-team for nearly two years, having become the youngest Bundesliga player in the club’s history back in November 2020.

Moukoko has been a star since he was a child

Born in Cameroon in 2004, Moukoko’s family moved to Hamburg when he was a child, and signed for local club St. Pauli, where he showed his talents for the club’s under-13s, scoring at free will.

At the age of 14, he was signed up by Borussia Dortmund, scoring 127 goals in 84 matches for the club’s under-17 and under-19 teams.

That impressive record prompted Lucien Favre to promote the forward to Dortmund’s senior team in the 2020-21 season, making his debut at the age of 16 in November 2020.

Since he was a child, he’s been scouted by Europe’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid and Manchester United, but Dortmund have been adamant on keeping him.

Despite his first-team status for almost two years, he’s still on a relatively modest contract at the German giants, earning €962-per-week, or €50,000-per-year, according to football data website, FBref.

This season, Moukoko has been more involved with the first-team, following the departure of Erling Haaland to Manchester City and Sebastien Haller’s tumor diagnosis.

A big worry for Moukoko has been his injury record, having missed several opportunities in recent years, but it’s something to work on in the coming years as he’s still young.

Many believe he has the potential to be one of the world’s best forwards, and he’s spoken about his desire to win the Ballon d’Or himself.

Staying vigilant and keeping his eye on his goals will be crucial – Moukoko is still only 17 and has plenty to achieve in the game, and keeping his feet on the ground will be important.
