Barcelona have made it clear that they want to sell Memphis Depay, having bolstered their attacking line over the summer, but the Dutchman has two conditions to leave.

The Blaugrana have Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres at the club, giving Depay plenty to compete with.

It has been clear that Depay’s minutes will be limited in the upcoming season, despite playing for them and scoring in pre-season as Barcelona have been in the United States.

The club were looking for a fee for the player, with the likes of Tottenham, Juventus and Manchester United reportedly keen on signing him.

Depay wants to leave on his terms

Depay, though, has some conditions for the club about his departure, and he is open to the idea of leaving the Camp Nou, but only if his demands are met.

Firstly, he wants to leave on a free transfer if the right offer for him comes in as it prevents an interested buyer from wasting time or haggling over the possibility of a deal and it also allows him to earn a signing-on fee.

Secondly, he wants to move to a big club, or one that is playing Champions League football as it allows him to show his talents on the biggest stage.

Barcelona were hoping to get a fee of around €20 million for the player, but that may be difficult as he has just one year on his contract and it doesn’t leave them in the best negotiating position.

The 28-year-old signed on a two-year deal last season having left Lyon, with manager Ronald Koeman being a fan of the player, having coached him with the Dutch national team.

He scored 13 goals in 38 appearances in the last campaign, most of which came in the first half of the season, and he hasn’t impressed Xavi as much as he hoped, leaving the manager open to a departure.
