Gareth Bale transfer news: Real Madrid attacker's five options

Gareth Bale will leave Real Madrid this summer when his contract expires on 30 June.
The trouble the 32-year-old may face is that he's unlikely to be in high demand. Injuries and a lack of form at club level, coupled with giant wages, make him an unattractive prospect compared to the player who left Tottenham for Los Blancos for a world-record fee in 2013.
His future is subject to much speculation, with some of the most unlikely of clubs bringing linked to his name, such as La Liga side Getafe.
Here we run through some of the options at the winger’s disposal.

Tottenham
Bale enjoyed a decent loan spell with his former season in the 2020/21 season. He netted 16 goals in 34 appearances for the Lilywhites, before heading back to Los Blancos.
It’s no secret that Spurs have a fair sum of cash to spend this window, while chairman Daniel Levy will be wanting to appease Antonio Conte. Reports have suggested that such a move is unlikely - but the link Bale has with the club is undeniable.
The MLS
It has been called a retirement home for the European stars but a tour of the States sounds like a feasible option for Bale at this point in his career.
It would offer the winger playing time and the lifestyle that he wants while such is his star status for the Wales team, it is unlikely to affect his standing at international level at all.
Newcastle
The ‘richest club in the world’ are struggling to get rid of that take. It’s known they can afford high wages so undoubtedly many agents have been in touch and offering their star players to them.
But a move for big-name stars isn’t really in the club’s repertoire and a switch to St James' Park for Bale would prove a difficult move.
AC Milan
A Serie A transfer would no doubt attract Bale. It’s an area he has not covered yet and there are clubs with a big enough kitty to afford his wages. Milan have had some issues with their takeover but should that get over the line, an experienced winger with bags of quality on a free transfer could be worthwhile.
Cardiff City
Yes, the Welsh club have registered interest in the attacker, with their chairman flying into the UK in a bid to make Bale a Bluebirds player.
The club will appeal to Bale in the sense that he will be back in Wales and back where he feels at home. Trying to get the Championship side a promotion would also be a great feat. But you just wonder where they are going to get the wages from.
