Lionel Messi tipped to complete 'GROUNDBREAKING' four-month transfer
Galatasaray are interested in signing Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi on a four-month loan deal in January, according to reports in Turkey.
The Argentina legend has enjoyed a sublime 2025 season, scoring 40 goals and providing 19 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions, but he faces an extended spell on the sidelines in the lead-up to next summer’s World Cup.
If Inter Miami reach the MLS Cup final, Messi’s last game of the season will come on 6 December and he will then be without a competitive club match until the new campaign begins in March.
As a result, he has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of Thierry Henry and David Beckham, both of whom completed temporary loan moves back to Europe during their time in the United States of America. The former rejoined Arsenal for one month in 2012, while the latter excelled during a short spell at Milan in 2010.
Messi could be the next to follow suit as Turkish publication Fotomac claim that Galatasaray are interested in finalising a "groundbreaking" deal for the 38-year-old.
Lionel Messi to Galatasaray?
Galatasaray are currently top of the Turkish Super Lig table, having picked up 29 points from their opening 11 matches this term, and they have registered their desire to sign Messi on a four-month loan deal in order to ensure he remains sharp ahead of the World Cup.
Okan Buruk’s side already boast the likes of Victor Osimhen, Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan, however they are now reportedly closely monitoring Messi’s situation as they look to tempt him to Istanbul.
The Argentina superstar has been linked with a sensational return to Barcelona since his Camp Nou departure in 2021, although a move back to the club appears extremely unlikely and Galatasaray are now determined to win the race for his signature.
A permanent transfer will not take place, however, with Messi recently signing a contract extension at Inter Miami to keep him at the club until the end of the 2028 MLS season.
