Man Utd THREATEN Antony
Man Utd are demanding that Antony accept a transfer away from the club this week, or else they will banish him from the squad until January.
Antony has rejected numerous offers this summer - most recently from Botafogo and Sao Paulo - as he is holding out for a return to Real Betis on loan at the end of the window.
This is infuriating Man Utd, who are desperate to sell Antony to bring in money and space needed to make some more signings.
ABC de Sevilla report that Man Utd have demanded that Antony accept a transfer away this week, with the threat of leaving him in the stands until January if he doesn't.
Real Betis' strategy remains to wait until the end of the summer window where United will be desperate and cave in to another loan deal.
Antony to leave Man Utd
The winger enjoyed a brilliant loan spell at Betis after joining from Man Utd for the second half of last season.
He was one of the best players in La Liga, scoring nine goals and delivering five assists in all competitions.
He also played a crucial role in Betis' run to the Conference League final, delivering two goals and an assist in their semi-final win over Fiorentina.
Real Betis would love to sign Antony permanently but do not have the finances to do a deal so want another loan.
Antony at Man Utd
Antony joined Man Utd from Ajax in the summer of 2022 for €100m and big things were expected of Erik ten Hag’s former pupil.
However, Antony has been an unmitigated disaster at Old Trafford. He bagged just four Premier League goals and two assists in his inaugural season and looked well short of the physical, mental and even technical levels required to play for such a big team.
The 2023-24 season, Antony was even worse with just one Premier League goal and one assist.
Antony did not start a game this past season in the Premier League or Europa League, playing just 83 minutes of league football off the bench for United before his loan move to Betis.
He had one goal and just 400 minutes across 14 games in all competitions this season before being loaned to Betis in January.
