The new season may have commenced in many top European leagues but there will still be a huge focus on the transfer market over the next week, as teams look to strengthen before the deadline on the first day of September.

As always, Premier League teams have spent heavily so far.

Manchester United have signed Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to revamp their attack, with Manchester City also flexing their financial power to sign Tijani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Rayan Cherki.

Chelsea have signed Liam Delap, Estevao, Jorrel Hato, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens, among others.

Arsenal have been very busy, too, bringing in Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard and Cristhian Mosquera.

The biggest deal so far this summer saw Florian Wirtz complete a blockbuster transfer to Liverpool from Leverkusen, while they also brought in Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth and Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong from the Bundesliga. Luis Diaz went in the other direction, signing for German giants Bayern Munich.

The transfer saga of the summer involves Alexander Isak, who is attempting to force through a departure from Newcastle to Liverpool.

United target Angelo Stiller

Man Utd have been linked with a number of midfielders recently as they look to reinforce that area of the pitch.

They have been strongly linked with Carlos Baleba but he is proving too expensive at the moment, so they have apparently turned their attention to Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller.

The young German was a previous target of Real Madrid but things have been quiet on that front and the Red Devils could take advantage to trigger his €37 million release clause. (Fichajes)

Palace interested in Harvey Elliott

Crystal Palace are interested in signing Harvey Elliott from Liverpool.

The London side are desperate to find a quality replacement for Eberechi Eze, who left to join Arsenal a week ago.

In addition to Elliott, they have been strongly linked with Villarreal's Yeremy Pino and Leicester's Bilal El Khannous.

As for the Liverpool midfielder, he has been strongly linked with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. (Football Insider)

Madrid sides monitoring Mainoo situation

Both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are monitoring Kobbie Mainoo's uncertain situation at Man Utd.

Once viewed as the future of the club, Mainoo has fell down the pecking order at Old Trafford and is now apparently the fourth-choice central midfielder behind Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte.

He rejected a contract extension last season and United are now open to selling him, with Chelsea and Brighton in the mix as well as, apparently, the Madrid giants. (Mail)

Wolves reject new Strand Larsen bid

Wolves have rejected another bid from Newcastle for Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Last week they bid around £50 million (€58m) for the striker and it was rejected. On Tuesday they upped their bid to £55m (€63m) but this was also rejected.

Strand Larsen is keen on the move but will not press the club to leave. (Athletic)

Romano confirms Garnacho future

Fabrizio Romano has confrimed that Alejandro Garnacho will leave Man Utd for Chelsea.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he declared: “Garnacho is going to Chelsea. We’re just waiting for formal steps but in my opinion, he’s going to Chelsea.

“Chelsea are still working on Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho. These two remain the two priority targets for Chelsea.”
