Transfer Rumours: Emmanuel Emegha talks as Man Utd in striker domino
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 20 August, including the latest updates on Emmanuel Emegha, Joshua Zirkzee and Tosin Adarabioyo.
Emegha in limbo
Chelsea forward Emmanuel Emegha finds himself "in limbo," according to But! Football Club.
The striker only joined the Blues from sister club Strasbourg in a pre-agreed deal this summer, but there is no guarantee that he actually stays. Trying to exploit this uncertainty, Marseille enquired about him.
It is believed that the Netherlands international would have been open to the move, but Marseille backed away from the deal for the time being due to concerns over his fitness. He is back in Chelsea training after suffering a hamstring injury in early pre-season.
Zirkzee domino
Juventus remain interested in Man Utd forward Joshua Zirkzee, but any potential deal hinges on Jonathan David leaving, as per TuttoSport.
The latter has thus far shown no inclination to depart despite plummeting down the club's striker pecking order. David reportedly wants to stay and fight for his place, much to the annoyance of Juventus, who are desperate to make sales.
Even if David were to depart, there would be no guarantee of an agreement with Man Utd, as Juventus want a low-cost loan. Moreover, the pursuit of Zirkzee is driven by sporting director Ricky Massara, whereas manager Luciano Spalletti would prefer a more physical striker.
Aston Villa eye Tosin
Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has emerged as a target for Aston Villa, Sky Sports reports.
The Birmingham club agreed a €60 million deal with Arsenal for Ezri Konsa on Wednesday, necessitating the signing of a replacement. Tosin is among the top options currently being considered.
After being omitted from Chelsea's final pre-season friendly, the defender was stripped of his number on Wednesday, with new signing Valentin Barco handed his No.4 shirt.
Spurs want double deal
Tottenham are advancing in talks with Man City for Savinho and Omar Marmoush, The Athletic understands.
Spurs are believed to be keen to sign potentially as many as three forwards between now and the end of the window, and they are finally making progress on a potential deal for Savinho after weeks of discussions.
Marmoush has also been identified as a key target, with Spurs willing to bring in the Egyptian alongside his Man City teammate. They are still in talks over a transfer for Liverpool star Cody Gakpo as well, though it remains to be seen if they can truly afford all three.
Arsenal could return for Yildiz
Arsenal could make a fresh attempt to sign Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz, TuttoSport claims.
The Turkey international is a long-standing target for Mikel Arteta, dating back to Edu's time as sporting director. Yildiz has repeatedly been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent windows, but Juventus have always insisted that he is not for sale.
This stance has not changed, but there is growing exasperation with the club's failure to make sales this summer. Arsenal would be prepared to pay up to €100m for Yildiz if Juventus were to open the door to a possible transfer.
