Man Utd looking to use Bruno Guimaraes by launching bold move for Arsenal star

Manchester United are exploring a bold move to sign versatile Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly, according to The Independent.

The Independent claims Arsenal are reluctant to sell the 19-year-old but that could change ahead of the expected arrival of Bruno Guimaraes.

Premier League champions Arsenal are closing in on signing Guimaraes from Newcastle United in a €93.5m (£80m) deal, The Times understands.

And United are reportedly looking to profit from that proposed move by registering their interest in Lewis-Skelly with Arsenal.

The Independent says United have a long-standing interest in Lewis-Skelly, who can operate as a left-back and also as a midfielder.

Michael Carrick’s side are believed to be looking to strengthen in both of those areas ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League season.

The Independent understands United are also considering the merits of Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall, who has three years left on his deal.

Lewis-Skelly meanwhile has four years left to run on his Arsenal contract after the England international signed a long-term deal last June.

He has made 75 appearances for Arsenal following his emergence through their youth system, scoring one goal.

Lewis-Skelly sparkled in Arsenal win at Bernabeu last year

Lewis-Skelly caught the eye when deployed as a left-back in his side’s 2-1 win at Real Madrid in the Champions League in April 2025.

And he also impressed as a midfielder last season, playing a key role in helping Arsenal get over the line in the Premier League title race.

Lewis-Skelly also partnered Declan Rice in midfield as Arsenal were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in May.

Meanwhile United have so far signed Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow ahead of their first full season under Carrick.

Carrick was handed the United job on a permanent basis in May after an impressive spell as interim manager last season.

He replaced Ruben Amorim in January and inspired the club to a third-place Premier League finish - and subsequent qualification for the UEFA Champions League - in 2025-26.
