10th summer signing done
Chelsea have completed the signing of Jordan Henderson on a free transfer from Brentford.
The England international emerged as a surprise target for Xabi Alonso not long after the Spaniard officially took charge, as reports suggested he was keen to add more experience to the squad.
Henderson joins another veteran, Danny Welbeck, who completed a transfer to Chelsea last week.

Scalvini interest
Chelsea are one of a few Premier League clubs considering a swoop for young Italian defender Giorgio Scalvini.
Two summers ago, the 22-year-old suffered a tragic anterior cruciate ligament injury that ruled him out of the European Championships with Italy. However, he recovered to find form again last season and made 30 appearances in all competitions for Atalanta.

La Dea have set an asking price of €49 million for the player, but the Sun reports that Newcastle could test their resolve with an opening bid of €39m. In addition to the Magpies and Chelsea, Tottenham have been credited with an interest but have already bought an expensive centre-back this summer in the form of Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton.
Spurs could press ahead with interest if Cristian Romero leaves, while Xabi Alonso allegedly wants to sell five of Chelsea's centre-backs this summer, which would open up space for Scalvini.
Chalobah set for Italy
While one centre-back might be coming from Italy, there's another going in the other direction as FC Como have agreed a deal to sign Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah for an initial €30m, reports Fabrizio Romano.
The Serie A side initially made enquiries before submitting a series of offers, but Chelsea rejected the opening bids because they fell short of the club's valuation. At one stage, there was a significant gap between the two clubs' valuations, with Chelsea holding out for around €35 million while Como were reluctant to meet that figure.
Negotiations have since progressed, with Como gradually increasing their offer. Their latest proposal is understood to be worth €30 million guaranteed plus €6 million in add-ons, a package Chelsea have now verbally accepted. The deal also includes a sell-on clause in Chelsea's favour.
Badiashile to Serie A too?
Wait, make that two defenders on their way to Serie A as Chelsea are reportedly “very close” to finalising an agreement to send Benoit Badiashile on loan to Napoli with an option to buy, according to L’Équipe
He is among the players Chelsea are looking to move on before the transfer window closes, with the defender left out of the club's pre-season tour of Australia and Asia as preparations continue for his departure.
The Frenchman endured a difficult 2025-26 campaign, making only 16 appearances in all competitions. His final Premier League outing came on 31 January against West Ham United, when he was substituted at half-time.
After that match, Badiashile did not feature in Chelsea's squad for any of the club's remaining eight league games.
Palace want Disasi
Crystal Palace and Chelsea could be set to conduct more business this summer as the Eagles want to sign Axel Disasi as a replacement for Maxence Lacroix, who moved to Stamford Bridge earlier in the window.
Journalist Fabrice Hawkins reports that Disasi is viewed as Palace's number one choice to replace Lacroix, though it hasn't been determined yet if the deal would be permanent or on loan.
There are also Italian clubs interested in the central defender, who spent six months on loan at West Ham last season before they suffered relegation.
What next for Mudryk?
Late last week, Mykhailo Mudryk was officially cleared to play football again.
In 2024, the Ukrainian winger was provisionally suspended by the Football Association while being investigated for doping after meldonium was found in his system, and in 2026 initially received a four-year ban. Mudryk consistently denied knowingly taking a banned substance and appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The case was ultimately resolved in his favour after changes to the World Anti-Doping Agency's technical guidance meant that the concentration of meldonium detected in his sample would no longer be treated as an anti-doping rule violation.
It means he's free to play, but will he play for Chelsea again?
Well, one temporary solution would be a loan switch to Coventry, with Frank Lampard keen on a reunion with the forward, according to Football London.
