Bruno Fernandes has pledged his future to Manchester United during ongoing talks over a contract extension, according to the Daily Mirror.

Fernandes has emerged as United’s greatest player in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, recording over 100 goals and 100 assists for the club.

He joined the Red Devils from Sporting CP in January 2020 and has made 327 appearances, winning the League Cup in 2023 and FA Cup in 2024.

Fernandes was named the Premier League Player of the Season for 2025-26 after having a huge hand in United finishing third under Michael Carrick.

The 31-year-old recorded 21 assists in 35 league appearances last term, setting a new single-season record in the Premier League era.

Despite holding talismanic status at United, Fernandes revealed earlier this year he has previously rejected three opportunities to leave the club.

And with just one year left on his contract at Old Trafford, speculation has continued to swirl regarding his long-term future.

However, the Mirror now understands Fernandes has expressed a desire to stay at United as both parties continue to discuss a contract renewal.

The same outlet claims United boss Carrick is keen to keep hold of the midfielder as he looks to mount a title challenge in the future.

The Mirror also understands Fernandes’ salary could rise to a staggering €468,000-a-week (£400,000), should he put pen to paper on a new deal.

Fernandes reveals he has rejected chances to leave Man Utd

When asked about his commitment to United in May, Fernandes told Sky Sports: “It's not a question of loyalty. I could have gone two years ago, I could have gone three years ago, I could have gone last season, but I really like to be here.

“I think that being successful at this club is something that I can never get at another club. The joy and everything I get, the day I get what I want from this club, I don't think I will get that from any other club in the world.”

The news that Fernandes is willing to stay at United comes as a massive boost ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

The 20-time league champions have been busy in the summer transfer window, signing Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow.

BBC Sport understands United are also looking to sign a third central midfielder, with Alex Scott among their targets.

However, the same outlet claims Chelsea have had a €75m (£64m) offer rejected by Bournemouth for Scott.

Scott has developed a reputation as one of the most promising midfielders in the Premier League at Bournemouth.

He played a huge role in them qualifying for next season’s UEFA Europa League by securing an incredible sixth-place finish in 2025-26.
