Man Utd Transfer News Today: Red Devils secure double wonderkid signing from rivals Man City
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Man Utd transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Joshua Zirkzee, Manu Kone and Ismaila Sarr.
Zirkzee says yes to exit
The Netherlands international joined the Red Devils with plenty of fanfare in the summer of 2024 in a deal worth close to €43 million but he has struggled for first team football in recent times.
Accordingly, Zirkzee is now looking to get out of Old Trafford for the good of his career. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have reignited their long-standing interest in the 25-year-old, and he has already greenlit a potential move to Turin.
It is difficult to believe that a deal for Zirkzee could be imminent due to Juventus first needing to make sales but there nevertheless appears to be confidence over a deal. The Dutchman is "enticed by the prospect of returning to Italy.
Juventus would ideally like to sign Zirkzee on an initial loan, but it remains to be seen if Man Utd are receptive to this.
United face Kone competition
Kone has been most keenly linked with a move to Old Trafford after a series of impressive displays for France at the World Cup, backing up his strong form for Roma.
The Red Devils, however, have been slow to make a bid and could find themselves beaten to the 25-year-old by Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli.
Matthias Jaissle’s outfit have already been in direct contact with Roma over a price for the midfielder, Sky Sports CH reports, with a valuation of €60m believed to be placed on him by the Serie A side.
Al-Ahli appear ready to beat the European giants to Kone by making the first move in a “situation that could change rapidly”.
Romano gives Man Utd transfer update
“That story is not true,” he explained. “Manchester United signed Karl Darlow from Leeds. Senne Lammens is the first goalkeeper, Darlow will be the backup, Tom Heaton is the third goalkeeper, while Altay Bayindir is expected to leave. So for the goalkeeper, no movements.”
“For Ismaila Sarr it's exactly the same as Crysencio Summerville,” he noted. “Many people say there are advanced talks or concrete negotiations with Manchester United, but the reality is that Manchester United are not advancing for any winger while Marcus Rashford is still there. So at the moment there is nothing concrete for Ismaila Sarr.”
He added that United's position has not changed despite Summerville moving closer to Al Hilal, with United not advancing on any deals for wingers unless Marcus Rashford leaves.
“For Manu Kone, Manchester United had contacts with the player's camp last week. Those conversatons continue, but United have to decide how much they can spend on a defensive midfielder before taking the next steps. There is still no bid to Roma and no club-to-club negotiations"
Man Utd raid Man City for double wonderkid deal
Man Utd are understood to have signed two highly-rated teenagers from the academy of rivals Manchester City in a major coup for the club.
United have been keen to restore their reputation as the number one club for local youngsters to develop at, having seen City produce a number of elite talents in recent times.
