Man Utd Transfer News Today: Tchouameni talks held as €93m target makes huge decision
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Manchester United transfer news on Tuesday 7 July, including fresh updates on Aurelien Tchouameni, Alex Scott, Andrey Santos and Altay Bayindir.
Man Utd contact Real to understand Tchouameni stance
Man Utd have held exploratory talks with Real Madrid over a move for Aurelien Tchouameni, according to The Athletic.
BBC Sport reported in April that the Red Devils are monitoring Tchouameni as part of their desired midfield revamp.
And now The Athletic understands United have reached out to Real to ascertain their stance regarding the 26-year-old.
Widespread reports elsewhere understand France international Tchouameni wants to remain with the La Liga giants, however.
Red Devils learn Scott has turned down contract ‘offers’
Alex Scott has turned down new contract "offers" from Bournemouth amid interest from United, according to The Athletic.
The 22-year-old is one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe after sparkling for Bournemouth last season.
BBC Sport reported in June that the Cherries have told suitors they have no interest in selling Scott, and want him to sign fresh terms.
However, The Athletic are now claiming Scott has turned down contract “offers” from the south-coast club.
Carrick’s side have ‘genuine’ chance of signing Santos
United have a “genuine” chance of signing Chelsea ace Andrey Santos this summer, according to transfers reporter Fabrizio Romano.
The Guardian reported last Sunday that Michael Carrick’s side are weighing up an offer for the €58million-rated (£50m) Brazil international.
In a new YouTube video, Romano said: “For Andrey Santos, Man Utd have been in contact with the player's agent. This is not the first contact because discussions began a long time ago, back in February and March. Man Utd held two meetings with Giuliano Bertolucci, the Brazilian agent who represents Andrey Santos, so there is already a good relationship between the club and the player's camp.
“He is a genuine possibility [for United]. He is also a player Christopher Vivell knows very well from his time at Chelsea before joining Man Utd's [recruitment] management team. He is definitely one of the names on the shortlist.
“At the moment, Chelsea have not received any bid from Man United, but he remains one of the midfield options being considered. As I mentioned yesterday, Chelsea are prepared to let Andrey Santos leave if they receive a very good proposal.
“They are not desperate to sell because they believe he is a talented player with significant potential. However, if an important offer arrives, certainly much higher than £20million (€23m) or £30million (€35m), Chelsea could consider his departure. That makes Andrey Santos one to watch over the coming weeks.”
United freeze plans to sign new goalkeeper until Bayindir exit
United are unlikely to sign a new goalkeeper until Altay Bayindir leaves the club as expected, according to The Athletic.
The same publication claims back-up shot-stopper Bayindir is receiving strong interest from clubs in his native Turkey.
Bayindir started the 2025-26 season as United’s No. 1 until Senne Lammens arrived from Royal Antwerp on transfer deadline day last September.
As speculation continues to swirl regarding Bayindir, the Daily Mail understands United are considering signing Karl Darlow as a replacement.
Darlow is currently a free agent after leaving Man Utd's fierce rivals Leeds United upon the expiration of his contract in June.
