Arsenal step up Guimaraes chase

Arsenal are set to accelerate their pursuit of Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to football.london.

The Brazil international and his country have been knocked out of the World Cup, which has now cleared the way for Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta to step up his discussions with Guimaraes' camp over a potential transfer.

Preliminary talks have already been held, and a verbal offer was recently put forward. This unofficial bid was rebuffed by Newcastle, but there is a feeling that a deal could be done if Guimaraes pushes for the move, as exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers over the weekend.

Wan-Bissaka eyed

Arsenal have a shortlist of as many as 11 players to replace Ben White should he leave this summer, TEAMtalk claims.

One of the more eye-catching names the Gunners are considering is former Man Utd right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who starred for DR Congo at the World Cup. The defender could leave West Ham following their relegation to the Championship.

Numerous other players are also on the club's radar, but not all of them are specialist right-backs. For example, Arsenal are also considering centre-backs Raul Asencio and Ezri Konsa, who play for Real Madrid and Aston Villa, respectively.

Aranda offer ready

Arsenal are prepared to make an offer for Boca Juniors midfielder Tomas Aranda, Parma Live writes.

The 19-year-old already has a senior Argentina cap to his name despite only making his first-team debut for Boca this calendar year. He has now racked up 21 appearances for the Buenos Aires giants.

Several clubs are monitoring his situation, including Arsenal and Parma. It is asserted that the Gunners are ready to pay more for him than his €17 million release clause in order to get a deal done.

Arsenal won't sell Hincapie

Arsenal will not entertain the possible sale of Piero Hincapie this summer, as per TEAMtalk.

The Ecuador international, who is coming off a fairly disastrous World Cup, is understood to be a target for Real Madrid. New manager Jose Mourinho has made signing a left-sided centre-back a summer priority.

However, Arsenal have no interest in selling Hincapie given that they only just signed him permanently for €52m from Bayer Leverkusen after he spent last season on loan in North London.
