Morgan Rogers boost

Morgan Rogers appears to have moved one step closer to securing a blockbuster summer transfer following confirmation that Aston Villa have reached an agreement to sign Johan Manzambi.

The Switzerland international had looked set to complete a move to Newcastle United ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, but Villa have hijacked the deal and the 20-year-old is on his way to Unai Emery’s side for a club-record fee in excess of €60 million, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Up until now, Aston Villa have been reluctant to sell Rogers, but their decision to sign Manzambi suggests that Emery could be set to lose his star man.

Aston Villa don’t have a limitless transfer budget and with Manzambi on the verge of becoming their all-time record signing, he is expected to play a key role next season. So, with Manzambi arriving to become an integral player for Villa, it may mean that Rogers is to be sold.

Leandro Trossard close to personal terms agreement

Leandro Trossard is on the verge of leaving Arsenal after three-and-a-half years at the club in order to join Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas in a deal worth €20 million.

The Belgium international has been an integral player for the Gunners ever since his arrival in 2023, but he is now 31 years old and Arsenal have reached a full agreement to sell him to Besiktas for an initial fee of €18m, plus an additional €2m in possible add-ons.

Trossard is close to agreeing personal terms with Besiktas, as per The Athletic, and he is set to sign a three-year contract at the club, with the option for a fourth included. It’s reported that he will earn an annual salary of approximately €7m in Turkey and the deal could be completed this week, with discussions currently ongoing.

Bruno Guimaraes latest

Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes is still pushing to join Arsenal this summer having already agreed personal terms with Mikel Arteta’s side.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed earlier this month that Bruno is unsettled at Newcastle, and David Ornstein backed this up by revealing that he has asked to join Arsenal.

Now, leading Newcastle expert Keith Downie has explained why Bruno is pushing to leave Newcastle. “Some of the other Newcastle players who have left in recent times – Sandro Tonali joined Tottenham Hotspur for £100 million just last week – will be doubling their wages,” he said.

“Anthony Gordon has done similar with his move to Barcelona. And we saw what happened with Alexander Isak in that protracted move to Liverpool last year.

“I think Bruno Guimaraes, without putting words in his mouth, will be wondering: ‘When’s it my turn to go and double my wages and give myself a chance to win league titles year after year?’”

Nicolo Tresoldi blow

Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi has reached an agreement to join AS Roma, according to a report from Italian transfer insider Nicolo Schira.

Tresoldi has agreed to sign a five-year deal with the Serie A side, who are now in talks to finalise a deal for the €25m-rated forward.

Arsenal had been heavily linked with a move for the 21-year-old, although their rumoured interest appears to have died down and he is now set to join Roma.

Barcelona issue Julian Alvarez response

Arsenal have stepped up their bid to sign Julian Alvarez this summer, but Barcelona remain interested in the Atletico Madrid striker.

A move to Camp Nou is understood to be Alvarez’s preferred next step as he looks to leave Atleti, and Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that his first offer is still on the table.

“We’ll see about signing him. Obviously, we're not going to dance to anyone's tune; we'll set the pace," he said.

“Our bid was made with the intention of signing the player, who is liked by both the sporting director and the coach. I think he’s a fantastic player.

“Our substantial offer is still on the table, but it won’t be there forever.”

Christos Tzolis update

Arsenal will ramp up talks to sign Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis once Trossard’s sale to Besiktas is finalised, as per Fabrizio Romano.

He told his YouTube channel: “If Trossard leaves for Besiktas, Arsenal will immediately accelerate for a new winger.

“One of the names being discussed internally is Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. Arsenal are already in contact with his representatives.

“Tzolis is keen on joining Arsenal. Another club tried to enter the race over the last few days and asked whether they could advance negotiations, but the answer from the player's camp was that they are waiting for Arsenal.

“So Tzolis is giving priority to the Gunners as a serious option if they need to replace Leandro Trossard.”
