Man Utd Transfer News Today: Talks opened for World Cup star as 'genuine' target emerges
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Elliot Anderson, Karl Darlow and Crysencio Summerville.
Exclusive: Anderson told Man Utd move would secure him 'God' status
Speaking to FootballTransfers on behalf of 10bet, who offer live roulette as well as sports betting, Jenas was asked which of the Manchester clubs he would advise Anderson to join.
He said: “It feels a little bit like the sensible thing says City, because they are a lot closer to winning titles and winning trophies and doing what City do. But I think it falls a little bit in that same sphere as what Virgil van Dijk had to decide when he went to Liverpool over Manchester City.
“Because I think the message was kind of posed to Virgil, which was along the lines of: ‘You can go to Manchester City and you will win four, five, six titles and you'll have a fantastic career, but if you come to Liverpool and you manage to get us our first title in God knows how many years, you'll be a God forever.’
“And I know obviously United's pedigree in the Premier League is rich, but it's just been a long time since they've had any major league success. So if he could go and be a part of that turnaround journey for United, from a career perspective, it would be amazing for him.”
Man Utd open Summerville talks
The 24-year-old scored in the Netherlands’ first game at the 2026 World Cup and he is expected to depart West Ham before the end of the transfer window following their relegation down to the Championship for the first time since 2011.
Nicolo Schira claims that Summerville has been offered a five-year contract by the Man Utd hierarchy, with an option for a further 12 months included, and negotiations between the two clubs are expected to ramp up over the coming weeks.
It’s understood that Michael Carrick’s side want to sign a new left winger this summer, with Marcus Rashford expected to be sold on a permanent deal when he returns to the club following his loan spell at Barcelona, and Summerville has been earmarked as a potential signing.
Amorim eyes Ugarte reunion
Ruben Amorim is preparing a reunion with one of his former stars at Manchester United, with the new Milan boss being quoted an asking price for Manuel Ugarte.
Amorim managed Ugarte at Sporting before linking up with the Uruguayan international at Old Trafford and The Mirror report that the duo could be set for a third stint together.
United have told Ugarte he has no future at Old Trafford and the club are keen to sell him this summer, with agent Jorge Mendes told to find the 25-year-old a new team.
The Red Devils are said to be holding out for £30 million (€34.5m) for Ugarte, having signed him for €50m in 2024, but Milan are thought to be reluctant to pay this fee, with further talks likely to be held in the coming weeks.
Goalkeepers emerge as 'genuine option' for Man Utd transfer
Karl Darlow has emerged as a ‘genuine option’ to be signed by Manchester United this summer in a free transfer from Leeds United.
United are hoping to move on backup goalkeepers Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir this summer and they will need to bring in a replacement if the duo are sold to provide backup to number one Senne Lammens.
According to The Athletic, United are holding talks to sign Darlow when his contract expires at Leeds at the end of the month or former academy shotstopper Sam Johnstone, who was relegated with Wolves last season.

Tottenham are also said to be interested in Darlow but United are hopeful they can pull off the signing in a rare move that would see the 35-year-old became the first player to move to Old Trafford from Leeds United in 22 years.
