Fernandes confidence

Man Utd are set to beat Arsenal to the signing of West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes, as per The Times.

The Red Devils are pushing hard for an agreement with the Hammers for the Portugal international, despite his hefty price tag of over €90 million. Man Utd want to pay significantly less, but West Ham are holding firm so far.

Nevertheless, there is now a growing expectation that the 21-year-old will be playing at Old Trafford next season. Fernandes is prioritising Man Utd over his other suitors, which is giving the club confidence of being able to strike a deal.

Rashford to... Chelsea?

Chelsea could be interested in doing a deal for Man Utd winger Marcus Rashford, Simon Phillips claims.

The England star is set to formally return to Old Trafford after the World Cup, with Barcelona deciding to let the deadline for their €30m purchase option pass after Man Utd showed themselves unwilling to renegotiate the deal.

While Barcelona could yet look into a deal later in the summer, Rashford may be forced to find a different solution. Chelsea, it is asserted, would be interested in taking the winger on board - but only on loan.

Hall confusion

There are conflicting reports about Lewis Hall's current situation at Newcastle amid interest from Man Utd.

Left-back is a key area that the Red Devils want to address this summer, with the Magpies star a priority target for that position. However, Newcastle do not want to sell Hall this summer.

A report from The Sun seems to have given Man Utd a boost by claiming that Hall has fallen out with Eddie Howe after the youngster was snubbed for the England squad, but this is being strongly denied by Newcastle sources.
