Marcus Rashford message

Ex-Chelsea defender William Gallas has urged his former club to pursue a deal for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford this summer.

The England winger spent last season on loan at La Liga giants Barcelona, but he will return to Old Trafford after the World Cup before being sold on a permanent deal if Michael Carrick’s side receive a suitable offer.

“I think Marcus Rashford did well at Barcelona,” Gallas told talkSPORT (via Football.London). “They had a good system. I'm surprised he didn't sign for them permanently. I don't know what happened.

“I don't know if Arsenal want to sign him, but I would say Chelsea would be a better fit given how they play.

“I don't think he would fit at Arsenal. I'm sure he wanted to stay in Barcelona, but it didn't happen. If he has to come back to the Premier League, or maybe go somewhere else like Italy, we will see. But I could picture him at Chelsea.”

Andrea Cambiaso swap deal talks

Chelsea are accelerating their pursuit of Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso following the sale of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid, and they have discussed the possibility of including Nicolas Jackson in a deal.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who report there is currently a €10 million gap in the two clubs’ valuation of Cambiaso, which has led to talks over including Jackson in the transfer.

Juventus have told Chelsea they are open to consider players as part of a deal and Jackson has reportedly been discussed at length, with the Serie A giants understood to be interested in signing him.

The Senegal striker spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich and a permanent sale will be considered by Chelsea if a suitable offer arrives.

Maxence Lacroix wanted

Signing a new centre-back is considered to be a priority for Chelsea this summer and Crystal Palace star Maxence Lacroix remains on the club’s radar, as per The Daily Mail.

Jan Paul van Hecke is no longer available after leaving Brighton & Hove Albion to join Tottenham Hotspur, and a move for Lacroix could feasibly be pursued as a result.

However, Chelsea are yet to solidify their interest with a formal approach and talks haven’t started.

Adam Wharton interest

Chelsea are also reportedly interested in Lacroix’s current Crystal Palace team-mate Adam Wharton, who has been tipped to depart Selhurst Park before the summer window closes on 1 September.

The England star has been linked with the Blues since his days at Blackburn Rovers and Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips claim that he is their top midfield target for this summer amid significant rumours that Enzo Fernandez will join Real Madrid.

However, Chelsea are currently unwilling to match Palace’s asking price and will attempt to negotiate a cheaper fee over the coming weeks.
