Man Utd Transfer News Today: €70m striker chased as official statement made
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Santiago Castro, Nathaniel Brown and Marcos Senesi.
Castro scouting mission
Man Utd scouts will be at Villa Park to watch Bologna striker Santiago Castro in the Europa League on Thursday, according to Il Resto del Carlino.
The Argentina international has scored 11 goals across all competitions this season and continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League. He has also been strongly associated with Chelsea, who have also sent scouts to the clash with Aston Villa.
It was previously claimed that Castro could fetch as much as €70 million, and that was even before he signed a new long-term contract in February. Arsenal also showed an interest in him last year.
Brown responds to rumours
Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown has responded to reports linking him with a big-money summer move to the Premier League, where clubs like Arsenal, Man City and Man Utd are said to be interested.
Speaking to BILD, Brown admitted that he is aware of the speculation but insisted that it "does not influence" him. It has been suggested that Frankfurt could demand a record fee for a left-back for Brown this summer.
“Yes, you do pick up on things like that, but it doesn’t influence me. I’m concentrating on the goals that are within my control. Nothing else interests me right now,” Brown said.
“My focus is entirely on Eintracht and our goal of qualifying for Europe. And after that, I would really love to be part of the World Cup squad. Then, I’ll see what happens in the summer. It’s hard to make plans in football, which is why I don’t dwell on it.”
Man Utd explore Senesi deal
Man Utd are keeping tabs on out-of-contract Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, as per talkSPORT.
The Argentine is set to leave the Cherries on a free transfer, and he is believed to be keen to remain in the Premier League. Chelsea and Tottenham have also been linked with him.
Senesi, for his part, wants to make a quick decision on his future. Andoni Iraola could be an ace up the Red Devils' sleeve. He will also leave Bournemouth, and he is open to taking the Man Utd job should they decide against making Michael Carrick their permanent head coach.
Man Utd monitor Oh
Man Utd are keeping tabs on Besiktas forward Oh Hyeon-gyu, Turkiye Gazetesi reports.
There were doubts when the 25-year-old arrived in Istanbul in February, but the South Korea international has dispelled any concerns over his level, scoring seven goals in 10 appearances for Besiktas.
As a result, Premier League clubs have begun to take note. His "explosion" has attracted the attention of Man Utd and Tottenham, who have started monitoring the attacker.
