Man Utd poised to bid for Shaw upgrade after 'dozens' of scouting reports

Manchester United scouts have been left mightily impressed by Benfica full-back Samuel Dahl this season, according to Portuguese media.
The Sweden international has already had quite an eventful career, despite being just 23. After a rapid rise to prominence in his home country, he joined AS Roma from Djurgarden for €5.7 million in 2024.
However, things did not work out for him in the Italian capital, and he was sent on loan to Benfica after just half a season. The Lisbon giants, having just sold Alvaro Carreras to Real Madrid, decided to make Dahl's stint permanent for €9m last summer.

It proved to be an inspired decision. Dahl has been a solid performer for Benfica this term, contributing a couple of goals and assists from his left-back position. Naturally, his form has put him back on the radar of Europe's biggest clubs.
Man Utd, who were already keeping an eye on him when he broke through in Sweden, have reignited their interest in the 23-year-old, according to Record. A potential summer bid can't be ruled out.

Man Utd are known to be in the market for a left-back as they currently only really have Luke Shaw available for that position. Patrick Dorgu has been better as a winger, Tyrell Malacia will leave the club this summer and Diego Leon and Harry Amass are still unproven at the elite level.
With Shaw on the wrong side of 30 now, Man Utd need a long-term successor. Dahl could be the man for the job as club scouts have been left hugely impressed by his performances, it is claimed.
The Swede has been watched in the flesh on more than 10 occasions this season, and the feedback from Man Utd scouts has been overwhelmingly positive thus far. As a result, it is posited that Man Utd could make an offer for him.
Dahl currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €12m, though it is not clear how much Benfica would demand for him. Man Utd would likely have to pay over the odds for him because AS Roma retain a 40% sell-on clause.
Benfica are notoriously tough negotiators, so they will not settle for anything other than a substantial profit.
