Chelsea forced to make quick decision on Pedro Neto replacement
Borussia Dortmund have reportedly added Strasbourg star Diego Moreira to their transfer wishlist, but they could face significant competition from his former club Chelsea this summer.
The versatile 21-year-old has enjoyed a stellar stint at Strasbourg since arriving on a permanent deal from Stamford Bridge in 2024, but he is set to depart the Ligue 1 outfit during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Moreira was frequently used as a left wing-back during Liam Rosenior’s time in charge at Strasbourg, although he also featured as a left winger while he has now nailed down a starting berth as a right winger under new boss Gary O’Neil.
The Belgium international has scored four goals and provided seven assists in all competitions so far this season and his form has attracted significant interest from Dortmund, as per Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Germany reporter posted on X: “Borussia Dortmund are among the clubs to have Diego Moreira on their shortlist for the summer.
“The 21 y/o, currently under contract at Strasbourg until 2029, is planning a move in the upcoming window, with a potential fee in the region of €30–40 million.
“Moreira is highly versatile and can operate in almost any role on the left flank. Chelsea are believed to hold a very favourable buy-back option.”

Analysis: Will Chelsea re-sign Diego Moreira?
With Dortmund interested in Moreira, Chelsea must act quickly if they want to bring him back to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Blues picked him up from Benfica on a free transfer back in 2023 and considering he is still only 21 years old, he would fit in with their current recruitment policy perfectly.
Furthermore, Moreira’s versatility could be extremely useful for Rosenior, with the Belgium star capable of playing in a number of different roles, including left-back, left wing and right wing.
The imminent arrival of Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP may hamper Moreira’s chances of a Stamford Bridge return, however the indifferent form of Pedro Neto could tempt Chelsea into re-signing the 21-year-old this summer, especially considering his eye-catching displays for Strasbourg in 2025-26.
