Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has described his former club Palmeiras as “home” amid rumours that he could return to the Brazilian outfit this summer.

The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with an Arsenal exit for over 18 months and he was expected to be sold last summer before suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

As a result, Mikel Arteta’s side opted to retain his services and he has since returned to full fitness, although he has been unable to displace summer signing Viktor Gyokeres as the Gunners’ preferred centre forward in recent weeks.

Arsenal have been touted to dip back into the striker market this summer, with Atletico Madrid superstar Julian Alvarez their top target, and Jesus could reportedly be sold ahead of the 2026-27 campaign in order to raise transfer funds.

Ben White, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli have also been heavily linked with an Emirates Stadium departure this year, with the north London giants set to oversee a fairly sizable squad overhaul despite their success this season.

Speculation in Brazil has suggested that Jesus could return to Palmeiras this summer and it’s understood that Abel Ferreira’s side are eager to bring the 28-year-old back to the club if Arsenal are willing to engage in transfer discussions.

Gabriel Jesus drops transfer hint

Jesus wasn’t selected by Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti for the March international break, but he opted to return to his homeland in order to train at Palmeiras’ facilities, as confirmed by journalist Flavio Latif.

When asked about the visit, Jesus told reporters (via Sport Witness): “It’s something [visiting Palmeiras] I’ve always done throughout my career during off periods.

“I think you can make the most of both things. Family moments with the people we love but without neglecting your health and fitness.

Jesus added: “I always have the doors open. Everyone knows Palmeiras is my home, where I grew up, and I always have the doors open to go to the club. Arsenal and Palmeiras have a great relationship and approved my training here.”

Jesus has scored five goals in 21 games so far this season, and a permanent return to Palmeiras appears as though it could be on the cards if Arsenal decide he is surplus to requirements.
