Anderson has been a rare bright spark in a poor campaign by Forest, and rumours indicate that he is likely to complete a blockbuster move to one of England’s biggest clubs following the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign.

It has been suggested that Man City are the current frontrunners to sign Anderson this summer, with Rodri recently hinting that he could leave the Etihad Stadium, although Man Utd are expected to seriously challenge for his signature too as they search for a suitable replacement for Casemiro.

Anderson has been earmarked as their primary candidate for the role, but Michael Carrick’s side are also scouting a number of alternative options, including the likes of Carlos Baleba (Brighton & Hove Albion), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) and Sandro Tonali (Newcastle United).

FootballTransfers understands that Tonali has also emerged as a top target for Arsenal, although Mikel Arteta’s side could be set to battle for the signing of Anderson too, according to CaughtOffside.

Elliot Anderson to Arsenal?

Arsenal are eager to bolster their midfield ranks this summer and they have reportedly added Anderson to a shortlist that already contains the aforementioned Tonali and Lille wonderkid Ayyoub Bouaddi.

The 23-year-old has scored two goals and provided three assists in 31 games for Nottingham Forest so far this season, and his form has reportedly alerted Arsenal scouts. An unnamed source told CaughtOffside: “Don’t rule out Arsenal just yet. Man City have had talks, they’re feeling positive about their position, but nothing’s done yet.

“What I’m hearing is that Arsenal sense an opportunity to get something done. We’ll have to see if they’re right, as other clubs have done more work on this as of now.”
