Arsenal are reportedly eager to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane this summer following his performances against the Gunners in the Champions League.

The 19-year-old only joined Leverkusen from Spanish second tier side Albacete for a fee of €5.3 million in July, but his performances for the Bundesliga outfit have alerted a number of scouts across Europe.

Kofane has scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 38 appearances across all competitions so far this season and although he failed to find the back of the net across two legs versus Arsenal, he proved to be a real handful for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

After watching the Cameroon international up close, Arsenal have now added him to their list of summer transfer targets, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

It’s claimed that Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also keeping a close eye on Kofane’s development at Leverkusen, but Arsenal are keen to win the race for his signature as they view him as a perfect signing for Mikel Arteta.

Christian Kofane to join Arsenal?

Leverkusen reportedly rejected offers worth €45m for Kofane during the recent January transfer window and Arsenal will be required to lodge a bid of up to €70m to tempt Kasper Hjulmand’s side into a sale this summer.

It’s reported that Kofane is keen to join Arsenal this summer due to the sporting project on offer and the opportunity to compete for major honours. However, his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) only stands at €20.1m and it remains to be seen if the Gunners are willing to pay over the odds to secure his signature this summer.

Arsenal are also interested in signing Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, but they will face significant competition from both Barcelona and Chelsea in the race to land the Argentina international ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Rumours that Arteta’s side could sign a new centre forward comes amid reports that Gabriel Jesus may be among the Arsenal players to be sold on a permanent deal this summer, alongside the likes of Ben White and Leandro Trossard.
