Liverpool and Man City among big clubs to fight for Serie A fullback's signature
Liverpool and Manchester City are both in for Juventus fullback Andrea Cambiaso, according to CaughtOffside.
The last two Premier League-winning clubs will have to fend off Real Madrid to secure the 26-year-old’s services, which Juventus are rumoured to demand €60-€70 million for, if they decide to negotiate.
Andrew Robertson is set to leave Liverpool, which means they will look to add a left-back to compete with Milos Kerkez. Robertson’s contract expires this summer, and it is unlikely that Konstantinos Tsimikas, on loan to Roma this season, has done enough to work his way back into the team ahead of his contract expiring after the 2027 season.
Man City have used 20-year-old Nico O’Reilly on the left side of defence to supplement summer signing Rayan Ait-Nouri, but O’Reilly’s two-goal performance against Newcastle United and his comfort in possession may lead manager Pep Guardiola to regard him as a midfield player.
Cambiaso ready for his big move
Cambiaso developed with his hometown club, Genoa, and spent four seasons on loan before breaking into the first team as a 21-year-old.
After one season in Serie A, he moved to Juventus for €15 million in 2022 and was loaned to Bologna.
He became an integral player for Juve in 2023/24, starting 28 of 34 Serie A appearances and scoring two goals with three assists. Cambiaso has also posted two goals and three assists in the league so far this season, having played 24 Serie A matches, and he also has one assist in nine Champions League appearances.
Juventus have a battle ahead of them for a Champions League place, as the Old Lady sits fifth in the league, four points behind fourth-placed Roma, but they maintain the player is not for sale.
Cambiaso has a €39.6 million Estimated Transfer Value (ETV), and with so many of Europe’s richest clubs interested, Juve could spark a bidding war to raise more cash.
Clubs reportedly offered €50 million for the player in January, which Juventus rejected.
