Chelsea need Jurgen Klopp's help to secure major summer signing
Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs keeping close tabs on Real Madrid winger Rodrygo ahead of this summer, but they may need Jurgen Klopp’s help to secure a deal.
Rodrygo, 25, has been heavily linked with a Los Blancos exit over the past 12 months and he has once again been tipped to depart the club amid significant transfer interest from numerous teams across Europe.
The Brazil international has only started six La Liga matches so far this season and he has scored just three goals in 26 appearances across all competitions this term.
Rumours have suggested that he could be sold by Real Madrid ahead of the 2026-27 campaign in an attempt to raise transfer funds, with the club expected to re-sign former academy prospect Nico Paz from Como following his extremely impressive stint in Serie A.
Arda Guler, Franco Mastantuono and Brahim Diaz have also been favoured ahead of Rodrygo throughout this season and Spanish publication El Nacional claim that Al-Hilal, Arsenal, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are all monitoring his situation closely.
Analysis: Will Rodrygo leave Real Madrid?
It’s reported that Rodrygo wants to stay at the Bernabeu for the foreseeable future, although he isn’t willing to accept a limited role at the club next season.
As a result, El Nacional state that he would like interim boss Alvaro Arbeloa to be replaced by the aforementioned Klopp, who is understood to be a huge admirer of the Brazilian.
The Liverpool legend has been heavily tipped to become the next permanent Real Madrid manager and he remains the bookies’ current favourite for the role.
However, if Klopp opts to snub the chance to join Los Blancos, Rodrygo could look to leave the club this summer, with Chelsea among those ready to finalise a deal.
The Blues’ attacking roster will already be bolstered by the arrivals of Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha and Dastan Satpaev this summer, but they remain eager to sign a new left winger and Rodrygo has reportedly been identified as a top target by Liam Rosenior’s side.
Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens have both failed to impress since arriving at Stamford Bridge last year, and landing an alternative option this summer has reportedly been earmarked as a priority by the Chelsea hierarchy.
