Fabrizio Romano CONFIRMS Chelsea transfer agreement
Chelsea have reached a full agreement to sell academy winger Ato Ampah to Championship side Stoke City, as per Fabrizio Romano.
The 19-year-old signed a new contract at Chelsea in July, however he is now on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal before the end of Transfer Deadline Day.
That is according to Romano, who posted on X: “Stoke City agree deal to sign Ato Ampah from Chelsea on [a] permanent move.
“Stoke [have] booked [a] medical today as Ampah will join soon with Chelsea keeping [a] heavy sell-on clause. Transfer fee can be up to £3m package.”
Ampah’s only first-team appearance for Chelsea came during their 3-1 win over FC Astana in the Europa Conference League last season, but he has scored four goals and provided six assists in 13 games for the Blues’ U21 side this campaign.
Stoke are currently 12th in the Championship table and they are set to make Ampah their third signing of the January transfer window following the loan arrivals of Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu and Go Ahead Eagles forward Milan Smit.
Chelsea’s Deadline Day business
Chelsea have already finalised two Deadline Day exits, with Yahya Idrissi joining AC Milan on a permanent deal and Frankie Runham signing for Ipswich Town on loan for the remainder of the season.
Upon confirmation of his temporary move to Portman Road, Runham told the Ipswich website: “I’m delighted to be at this massive club.
“I’ve had a good youth career so far and I'm now looking forward to continuing my progress at Ipswich Town.
“It’s a huge club that are doing well at the minute in Premier League 2 and in the Championship, so I see the club’s going in the right direction and I feel it’s the right place to give me the right pathway in my career.”
Ampah is set to follow suit by securing an exit, while Tyrique George (to Everton), Axel Disasi (to West Ham United) and David Datro Fofana (to Strasbourg) are all set to leave Chelsea on loan before the 19:00 BST deadline.
