Carlos Baleba decision

Manchester United have reportedly decided against matching Brighton & Hove Albion’s €115 million valuation of Carlos Baleba.

The Red Devils agreed personal terms with the Cameroon international last summer, however they walked away from negotiations over a blockbuster deal and Man Utd officials believe his current form doesn’t justify his price tag.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who claim that Man Utd have stepped back from their pursuit of Baleba’s signature.

It’s reported that Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have also made checks on Baleba’s situation at Brighton, although it remains to be seen if they are ready to seriously battle for his signature.

Ruben Amorim admission

Ruben Amorim has admitted that Man Utd are unlikely to sign reinforcements during the January transfer window.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, the Red Devils boss said: “The transfer window is not going to change.

“We have no conversations at this moment to have any change in the squad. There's a process, there's an idea that is going to continue.

“We are near the places of the Champions League, but we are also near like eight teams behind us. So let's focus on the next game, just that. Our focus is to win the next game.”

Antoine Semenyo truth

Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo was wanted by almost every top Premier League club, however he is now on the verge of completing a January move to Manchester City, The Transfers Podcast understands.

It comes just six months after he agreed terms with their arch-rivals Man Utd before opting to extend his contract at Bournemouth.

“As we discussed in the podcast in September, Ruben Amorim met Semenyo in person to assess his character,” Duncan Castles said on the latest episode of The Transfers Podcast.

“United had agreed personal terms with the player only for Semenyo to discover that their salary offer to him was significantly less than what they’d given Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. This allowed Bournemouth to persuade the player to sign a new contract with a release clause.”

Castles continued: “Pretty much all the top clubs in the Premier League have tried to exploit it [Semenyo’s release clause]. Manchester United came back in. Chelsea enquired. Liverpool looked at time. Tottenham made an offer and failed again because he decided Manchester City was the most attractive club to move to.

“I understand that Bournemouth expect to keep the player for the next two games. The clause is valid for the first 10 days of January only, and they’re running it to the end of the clause before allowing him to go to another club.”

Ederson interest

Man Utd have rekindled their interest in Atalanta midfielder Ederson, according to TEAMtalk.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Old Trafford on multiple occasions over the past 12 months and intermediaries have reportedly made fresh checks over a potential deal.

Ederson may be available for a fee of just €40m and the Red Devils are interested in pursuing a winter transfer amid their pursuit of a new central midfielder.

Harry Amass talks

Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen has confirmed that his side are in talks with Man Utd officials over extending Harry Amass’ loan spell at Hillsborough.

The England U19 international joined the Championship outfit on a six-month loan deal last summer and his deal is set to expire following their match versus QPR on Sunday.

However, Pedersen is eager to retain Amass until the end of the season.

“There is a dialogue between the clubs and the agent, so I really hope that we can finalise something soon,” the Sheffield Wednesday manager said on Friday.

“Of course, we would love to keep him. He has done really, really well. He's 18 years old, played so many games, which level he has played [at]. Of course the young guy has a lot to learn, but how he has played for us, it has been great.”
