Chelsea 'expected' to complete wonderkid transfer
Chelsea wonderkid Tyrique George is reportedly “expected” to leave the club before the end of the January transfer window after falling out of favour in west London.
The 19-year-old made a total of 26 senior appearances across all competitions last season, after being promoted into the first-team alongside close friend Josh Acheampong, however his involvement has been far more limited this campaign.
George has only racked up 492 minutes of action so far this term, while he hasn’t been included in a single Premier League matchday squad since Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Sunderland on 25 October.
The teenager was also absent versus Charlton in the FA Cup third round on Saturday evening, despite new boss Liam Rosenior opting to select a second-string XI and the fact he has started all three of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup fixtures this season.
Rumours of a January exit have intensified in recent weeks and The Athletic have now confirmed that George is “expected” to leave his boyhood club on a permanent deal before the end of Transfer Deadline Day on 2 February.
George had agreed to join Fulham for roughly €25 million on the final day of the 2025 summer transfer window, but the deal collapsed at the last minute after Marco Silva’s side decided to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Kevin instead.
However, the Craven Cottage outfit remain interested in George, while he has also been linked with a transfer to Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace.
Chelsea eye January sales
In addition to George, Chelsea are also eager to offload ‘Bomb Squad’ members Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi on permanent deals this month.
Both players are yet to feature for the Blues this campaign and they have been informed to find a new club as they do not feature in the club’s plans.
Filip Jorgensen has also been linked with a Stamford Bridge exit, amid interest from Besiktas, however a January exit is likely to be blocked as he is viewed as a suitable back-up option to Robert Sanchez.
