TRANSFER RUMOURS: Man Utd stunned as €100m star makes surprise decision
The second full week of the 2026 January transfer window is underway as clubs across world football attempt to bolster their squads before Deadline Day.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 13 January, including the latest updates on Elliot Anderson and Vinicius Junior.
Elliot Anderson talks
Manchester United's start to 2026 has gone from bad to worse as Manchester City have opened talks to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, according to a report.
Man Utd will be at the front of the queue for the England star, but they are at risk of getting beaten to the punch by their local rivals Man City, who have already managed to pip the Red Devils to the signing of Antoine Semenyo.
According to TEAMtalk, Pep Guardiola’s have now officially made contact to sign the midfielder and they are planning to go big on him in the summer transfer window.
Vinicius Jr decision
Vinicius Junior has decided that he doesn’t want to leave Real Madrid under any circumstances this summer, according to Spanish publication Defensa Central
Vinicius’ current deal at Los Blancos is due to expire in 2027 and, back in November, he reportedly informed the club that he wouldn’t sign a contract extension unless his relationship with head coach Xabi Alonso improved.
However, he former Real Madrid midfielder has now departed the club by mutual consent following their defeat to arch-rivals Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday and, in response, Vinicius Jr has decided that he wants to renew his contract at the Bernabeu.
Arsenal set Ben White stance
Arsenal officials have reportedly agreed that Ben White will not be sold during the January transfer window.
However, Arsenal have no interest in selling White during the winter window, as per a report from Football.London.
Celtic chase Kieron Bowie
Celtic have reportedly registered their interest in Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie, who is also wanted by arch-rivals Rangers.
Bowie, 23, has scored eight league goals and Rangers have earmarked him as a top transfer target for January. However, Danny Rohl’s side are set to face significant competition for the Scotland U21 international’s signature as Celtic have now joined the race to sign him, according to a report from The Herald.
The Hoops are also in the market for a new striker this winter and Hibernian are reportedly aware that Celtic are interested in landing Bowie this month.
Tottenham hijack Conor Gallagher deal
Tottenham are closing in on a deal to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher after outbidding Aston Villa, according to David Ornstein.
The England star looked to be on his way to Birmingham after Aston Villa managed to reportedly reach a verbal agreement with Atletico Madrid over a loan deal with a permanent element.
However, the deal did not materialise and The Athletic report that Tottenham are now set to sign him for €40 million.
