Chelsea Transfer News Today: Caicedo in DREAMLAND as Blues target blockbuster deal
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Chelsea transfer news, including updates on Joel Ordonez and Morgan Rogers.
Joel Ordonez truth
Liverpool are not on the verge of signing Club Brugge centre-back Joel Ordonez, despite widespread reports suggesting that he will move to Anfield in January.
That is according to TEAMtalk reporter Graeme Bailey, who claims that Liverpool aren’t even in talks over a mid-season deal for Ordonez.
It’s understood that Club Brugge would allow the Ecuador international to leave the club this month if they receive an offer worth at least €46 million (£40m) and Liverpool are among the teams keeping tabs on his progress.
However, TEAMtalk state that a proposed deal is far from advanced.
This will come as dream news to Moises Caicedo, who is close friends with his compatriot and reportedly wants Chelsea to bring him to Stamford Bridge if possible.
Chelsea target Morgan Rogers and Ethan Nwaneri
Chelsea reportedly remain interested in signing Premier League duo Morgan Rogers and Ethan Nwaneri in 2026.
The Blues are currently searching for a new head coach following the departure of Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day, but their recruitment team is still scouring world football for potential new signings.
Although Chelsea are expected to wait until the summer window to bring in meaningful additions, they have set their sights on signing both Rogers and Nwaneri, as per CaughtOffside.
Raheem Sterling makes decision
Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling has rejected a loan approach from West Ham United and is instead prioritising a January move to Fulham.
The ex-England international hasn’t played for the Blues since returning from a loan spell at Arsenal and he has been told to find a new club in January after being forced to train alone so far this season.
West Ham were interested in signing him on a short-term deal until the end of the campaign, but he has snubbed the chance to join Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, according to The Times.
Instead, Sterling wants to leave Chelsea on a permanent deal and he is hoping that Fulham will step up interest in his signature.
Liam Rosenior comments on Chelsea speculation
Liam Rosenior is widely expected to become the next Chelsea manager following Enzo Maresca’s exit and he could be announced by the club next week.
He refused to rule out a Stamford Bridge switch during a press conference on Friday and talks between the BlueCo ownership are ongoing.
“I'm going to talk about [Strasbourg's upcoming game against] Nice because that's my job,” Rosenior told reporters when asked if he will join Chelsea.
“There's a lot of noise, a lot of speculation, but as a coach, if you get involved, you fail. My job is here, I love this club.”
Quizzed on if he’s spoken to his Strasbourg players about a possible exit, Rosenior said: “No, I haven't spoken to the players about it.here's no need, they're connected and I've had a few light-hearted jokes. But we've been focused on our work. The goal is to continue creating great things here.
“In life, there are zero guarantees,” he added. “You never know what tomorrow will bring. I'm just doing my job. There's already been speculation.
“I don't want to guarantee how long I'll be here, but I enjoy myself here every day. I intend to continue doing so as long as I'm here. I love this club, but I can't guarantee anything. Nobody can.
“I want to do my job here, it's simple. The reality today is that I am the manager of Strasbourg and I am focused on my position.”
