The England international was courted by a number of top clubs this summer, after being frozen out by Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim, however he quickly prioritised a loan move to Barcelona.

The Blaugrana had identified Rashford as a top transfer target following their failure to finalise a deal with Athletic Club winger Nico Williams and the 28-year-old set his sights on completing a temporary move to Camp Nou, despite Man Utd’s desire to sanction a permanent deal.

A loan with an option to buy for €30 million was eventually agreed between all parties and Rashford is now eager to become a permanent Barcelona player in 2026.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who claim that Rashford has informed Man Utd officials that he will only join Barcelona next year.

Marcus Rashford transfer stance confirmed

PSG and Tottenham have both expressed their interest in signing Rashford over the past few weeks, and Man Utd are hoping for a transfer battle to ensue in order to maximise the potential transfer fee they are able to earn for the Englishman.

The Red Devils are concerned that Barcelona may not be able to afford their €30m buy option and could opt to negotiate a lower price. Rashford’s stance is therefore set to cause an issue for Man Utd if Barca decide against triggering their option to purchase the Englishman upon the expiration of his loan deal next summer.

Rashford, 28, has scored six goals and provided 10 assists in 20 appearances across all competitions since his arrival at Barcelona in July, and it’s understood that a permanent move to Camp Nou is on the cards for 2026.
