Liverpool lead race for €100m star who HATES Dominik Szoboszlai
Liverpool are reportedly leading the race to sign Real Madrid wonderkid Arda Guler next year amid significant competition from a number of fellow Premier League clubs.
The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to the English top flight for over 12 months and although he has established himself as a regular under Xabi Alonso this term, a 2026 departure appears to be on the cards.
Guler has already made 21 first-team appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid so far this season, with 18 of those coming after being included in the starting XI, and he has registered three goals and provided seven assists.
Despite this, he continues to be tipped to leave the club and several Premier League teams are monitoring his progress closely.
That is according to a report from CaughtOffside, who claim that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all stepping up their pursuit of the Turkey superstar, who is expected to cost a minimum of €100 million next year.
It is stated that Liverpool are currently the frontrunners to land Guler in 2026, with the Reds tracking his development at Real Madrid on a consistent basis this season. Arne Slot is understood to be a huge admirer of the 20-year-old and the reigning Premier League champions are eager to fight off competition from both Arsenal and Man Utd to land his signature.
Arda Guler vs Dominik Szoboszlai feud
If Liverpool are successful in their bid to sign Guler, it may be slightly awkward for current Reds midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, who was involved in a public spat with the Real Madrid midfielder back in March.
During a 3-0 victory for Turkey over Hungary in the Nations League, which followed a 3-1 first-leg win, Guler shushed Szoboszlai in celebration after scoring his country’s second goal. A picture of the incident was posted online, which prompted Szoboszlai to comment ‘1,088’ - referencing the number of minutes Guler had played for Real Madrid so far that season.
Guler was made aware of Szoboszlai’s comment and, in response, he posted an Instagram Story with a message that read: “This guy is a joke. Isn’t 6 goals enough to shut you up?”
The pair’s feud didn’t continue during Liverpool’s Champions League meeting with Real Madrid in October, although it’s evident they don’t particularly like each other.
