Arsenal get contract confirmation for €100m target
Arsenal have been given an update on the future of Juventus starlet Kenan Yildiz – a player that Mikel Arteta is ready to splash out €100 million on.
The playmaker has recently come out of a spell of barren form to provide Juve with three goals and an assist in his last three Serie A games, while he also has decisive passes in each of his last two Champions League outings, underlining his importance to the Italian side.
But Yildiz has been locked in long-running contract talks with the Turin outfit that will have a massive impact on his future.
Although his current deal runs until 2029, if Juventus are not successful in these negotiations, the likelihood is that the Turkey international will leave to one of a number of suitors from the Premier League, with Arsenal front of the queue.
Giorgio Chiellini, the sporting director of Juve, has played down any fears of the Turin side being forced into a sale.
“Kenan has a long contract with us; everything can't be resolved in a week. Our shared desire is to continue together; we know how important that is. We want to live up to his status,” he said (via Nicolo Schira).
Kenan Yildiz to Arsenal: A smart move?
Arsenal want to sign Yildiz because of his attacking versatility. Though he has primarily played as a No.10 for Juventus this season, a role filled at the Emirates by Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze, he can also feature on the left, which is a position that Arteta wants additional cover for.
A deal won’t come cheap, though. Although Yildiz has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €67.3 million, his long contract at Juventus means that the Gunners will have to strike an expensive deal with his club to prise him away. The Turin outfit are ready to demand €100m.
Data analysis firm SciSports, meanwhile, has grave concerns over how strong a fit Yildiz is for this current Arsenal side. Its Career Advice tool gives the Gunners a Club Fit score of just 59 for the former Bayern Munich youth, suggesting he would struggle to develop due to Arteta’s formation and style, while he would also lack playing time.
From Chiellini’s comments, though, Yildiz will have time to make this big decision.
