The Argentina international left the Bernabeu to join Como for a fee of €6 million last summer and he has established himself as one of the best young players in world football since his arrival in Italy.

Paz notched 15 goal contributions in 35 league appearances last campaign and he has already tallied nine since the beginning of the 2025-26 season as he continues to make waves in Serie A.

The 21-year-old has emerged as a target for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, with reports in Spain suggesting that all three Premier League clubs are keeping close tabs on his development at Como.

Arsenal already boast Martin Odegaard, Eberechi Eze and Ethan Nwaneri as central attacking midfield options, however they remain in the hunt for Paz’s signature amid their continued pursuit of additional reinforcements.

But, football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Real Madrid are expected to make Paz their first signing of the 2026 summer transfer window by triggering their buy-back clause of just €9m.

He posted on X: “Real Madrid are planning to bring back Nico Paz as their first signing for 2026 as revealed months ago.

“Understand the buy back clause is NOT valid in January and Como want to keep him until summer. The plan is to make the deal happen in June 2026. Nico already said YES.”

Nico Paz receives Cesc Fabregas seal of approval

Paz is regarded as an elite talent and speaking after he netted a sensational solo goal versus Juventus in mid-October, Como head coach Cesc Fabregas was quick to heap praise on the youngster

The former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder told reporters: “Nico is a champion. I’m very calm about him and his future.

“He can get to wherever he wants if he carries on with this hunger and humility. The talent and physicality are there.”

Paz, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €69.7m, is expected to compete with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz for a starting berth at Real Madrid when he returns to the club in 2026.
