Chelsea, Manchester United and other Premier League clubs are 'crazy' about RB Leipzig midfielder Assan Ouedraogo, according to German media.

After a lengthy struggle with injuries, the 19-year-old is finally at the peak of his powers again, and he is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. Ouedraogo is on a fairytale run at present, recently netting his first Germany goal and scoring a worldie at the weekend.

His emergence shouldn't be a surprise, however. The versatile midfielder was one of the breakout stars of the 2023/24 season at boyhood club Schalke before injuries disrupted his development.

He joined Leipzig in a €10 million deal last year but was limited to just 70 minutes of football in his first year at the club. At the time, Leipzig beat Bayern and Premier League suitors to his signature.

Capable of playing in central midfield and further up the pitch, Ouedraogo combines technical ability with physicality and an insatiable drive to go forward.

Premier League clubs 'crazy' about Ouedraogo

According to Sky Germany, Premier League clubs are still 'crazy' about Ouedraogo and his sky-high potential, with Chelsea and Man Utd explicitly namedropped.

The two English giants have been scouting the youngster, but the same outlet recently revealed that the teenager is fully focused on Leipzig for now. He got a taste for international during the last break and dreams of making Germany's World Cup squad.

Ouedraogo is not entertaining any interest at present, but it is not difficult to see that he will be football's next big-money midfielder, potentially commanding a fee in the region of €100 million when he leaves Leipzig.

The Bundesliga side certainly won't allow him to leave on the cheap. When they signed him, they managed to agree a deal that does not contain a release clause, giving them full control over future negotiations.

If he stays fit, Ouedraogo will be the next big thing to come out of the Bundesliga.
