Man Utd Transfer News Today: Romano CONFIRMS first January signing as Rashford deal 'blown apart'
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Cristian Orozco, Federico Valverde and Conor Gallagher.
Romano confirms first Man Utd January transfer
Manchester United will complete the signing of Colombian wonderkid Cristian Orozco, with the teenager set to join for $1 million from Fortaleza.
Speaking on YouTube, Romano said: “The next Manchester United signing was ‘here we go’ at the end of September, Cristian Orozco, Colombian, 17 years old, coming from Forala. $1 million is the transfer fee, but Man United believe that the value of this boy is going to be way higher very soon.
“Orozco is arriving in England very soon to complete the formal steps of his move. So in the next days we will see Orozco signing his contract in Manchester United and starting the process to complete his move to Manchester United from 2026 from the summer when he will turn 18 years old.
“So this is a signing for the future. But Orozco is seen as a huge talent by Manchester United.”
Man Utd told Gallagher asking price
Romano also confirmed that Atletico Madrid would ask for €30-35m for Conor Gallagher in January, with a loan move not likely to be sanctioned even with Man Utd’s interest.
“Man United tried in the final hours of the summer transfer window to get Gallagher on loan but that was not possible,” Romano said. “Atletico Madrid always say permanent transfer or nothing. And they remain on that position. They want around €30-35m euros for Gallagher. At the moment they are not opening the doors to a loan move.
“Let's see if the situation can change in January. But in general in 2026, might be January, might be summer, Gallagher has the chance to make an important move because there are opportunities, many clubs interested.
“There are several clubs pushing already to understand the situation not only in England and so this is why Gallagher will be one to watch. Man United was seen again as an opportunity, not a top absolute top priority, an opportunity
“For United it will depend on the financial cost of the deals in terms of a new midfielder and also the priorities, then if they will have an opportunity on the market these could be some to watch.”
Amorim set to axe 11 players
United are hoping to splash significant funds on a midfielder such as Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson or Adam Wharton and their transfer plans will require heavy investment.
Having spent more than €200 million on players this summer and with the team currently on course to miss out on European football again, United will need sales to fund their ambitious transfers next year.
The likes of Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee and Harry Maguire may be sold, while loanees like Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford will also leave.
Man Utd eye €120m transfer for Real Madrid star
Manchester United could take advantage of the turmoil at Real Madrid by making a €120m approach for Federico Valverde, according to reports in Spain.
Despite sitting at the top of La Liga and winning in the Champions League this week, pressure has piled on Madrid boss Xabi Alonso after reports of a strained relationship between him and a number of his stars.
Valverde is thought to be one of those stars after largely being used at right-back this season and the 27-year-old could be considering his future, leading to interest from United according to E-noticies.
The Uruguayan international is not expected to make a hasty decision to leave in January but United could try and tempt Madrid with a €120m offer, with the report claiming that Amorim’s side are keen to find a leader for their core rebuild.
PSG ready to ‘blow apart’ Barcelona transfer for Rashford
Barca have an option of around €35m to sign Rashford permanently but there are doubts over whether they will conclude the deal due to the 28-year-old‘s wage demands and the impact on their budget.
Fichajes claim that PSG are considering a €50m bid for Rashford, which would give United extra revenue and profit on a player whom has been told he has no future at Old Trafford.
